Recruiting for Mid-Phase EIR Grant
Improving Instruction for Emergent Bilingual Students
What Is a Mid-Phase EIR Grant?
The Education Innovation and Research (EIR) program is a federal grant opportunity for up to five years that provides funding to create, develop, implement, replicate, or take to scale entrepreneurial, evidence-based, field-initiated innovations to improve student achievement for high-needs students. We are specifically seeking a Mid-Phase opportunities that seeks to expand on existing efforts that are being successfully implemented. Region 18-TxCEE is partnering with the American Institutes for Research to propose a research project called Middle School Collaborative Language Acquisition Strategies for Success (MS CLASS) that implements professional learning activities to improve classroom instruction for Emergent Bilingual (EB) learners.
Proposed Project Details
TxCEE is seeking school districts to provide a letter of interest and possibly partner to implement MS CLASS for a pilot in 2024-2025, or in full for 2025-2026 or 2026-2027. This project proposes to develop high-quality content to increase teacher learning opportunities for EB strategies, increase teacher efficacy and effectiveness in implementing EB strategies, and improve linguistic and academic outcomes for EB students. Educators will learn new content and strategies through collaborative learning communities, novice teachers will receive additional support through mentoring practices, and teacher leaders will have the opportunity to develop and refine their leadership skills.
