HAPPY SPRING! We hope that this newsletter finds you well. It is so nice to begin to see the trees and flowers starting to bloom, the weather turning warmer, the days getting longer, and the sounds of people out within our neighborhoods - it is an uplifting and re-energizing feeling! Please take some time to review our newsletter as it contains helpful information regarding our move to Phase III, the end of the year, and some plans for the future.

PHASE III INFORMATION

Aaron Decker School


DAILY SCHEDULE

  • Phase 3 will begin on Monday, April 26, 2021. The school day will run from 8:00 AM - 12:20 PM daily.

  • All virtual students will log in through their Google Classroom at 8:20 AM each morning. Students will join their in-person classmates for the day.

  • Attendance will be taken on a daily basis. If your child will be absent from school either virtually or in-person, please alert the main office.

  • RELATED ARTS CLASSES will be infused into the daily schedule(8:00 AM - 12:20 PM).

  • ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE will be available from 1:15 PM - 2:15 PM daily.

  • Please see the Daily Schedule at the end of this letter.



ARRIVAL

  • Arrival times at ADS for non-bus students will begin at 7:50 AM. All students should arrive at school no later than 8:15 AM.

  • Students will be dropped off by the gym doors and enter the school.

  • All students must put masks on prior to exiting their vehicles and whenever they are on school property.

  • Students in our Preschool/MD programs will continue to follow their arrival times and procedures.

  • Bus students will be dropped off by gym doors and either staged in the gym until 7:50 AM or escorted to classrooms by teachers after 7:50 AM.

  • All students using bus/van transportation must have a mask on while at their bus stop and while on the school bus.

  • If your child qualifies for bus transportation, information (Route and Bus Stop) can be found on the Genesis Parent Portal.


DISMISSAL

  • If you need to pick up your child prior to the end of a school day, you will need to pick your child up before 12:00 PM. Arrangements should be made earlier in the day through the main office.

  • Bus students will be called down for dismissal at 12:10 PM . They will board buses in the parking lot. Vans will pick up students by the breezeway.

  • If your child is scheduled to take a bus but you plan on picking your child up at dismissal, please let the main office know through a written note or email.

  • Walkers (note required) will be dismissed at 12:20 PM and will exit through the doors by Room 11 and walk through ADS Field to Sunset Avenue. Parents of walkers may meet their students on the far end of the field (close to Sunset Ave.). There should be no parents standing in front by flag pole or in the back of the parking lot by guardrails. Parents who decide to pick their child/children up as walkers may park on Sunset Ave(Do not block driveways), Decker Rd. up past the ADS exit past the yellow curb(Do not block driveways), and Outback parking lot. Parents will still need to walk to the back field to pick their children up.

  • Dismissal for students begins at 12:20 PM. We are asking that all parents/guardians have a sign with your child’s first and last name located on the dashboard of your car. All parents/guardians will need to line up on Decker Rd. from the front of Aaron Decker School (along the sidewalk in front of the sign) to Leonard Rd. and then continue lining up on Leonard Rd. (Please do not block any driveways on Leonard Rd.) Please make sure you are lining up as close to the side of the road as possible to allow other traffic to pass through.

  • Students will be dismissed by the following procedures:

  • 12:20 PM - 12:35 PM - Students whose last name begin with A-K will be dismissed. For example, “Jeter”. Parents may begin lining up on Decker Rd. at 12:15 PM.

  • 12:35 PM - 12:50 PM - Students whose last name begin with L-Z will be dismissed. For example, “Trout”. Parents may begin joining the car line on Decker Rd./Leonard Rd. at 12:35 PM.

  • Students in our Preschool/MD programs will continue to follow their dismissal times and procedures.

Richard Butler School



On Monday, April 26, 2021, as part of the Butler Public School District’s Phase 3 Restart and Recovery Plan, we will allow all of our students to return to school every day. The Blue and Gold cohorts will combine to make one in-person, everyday cohort. There will also be a cohort available for those students wanting to continue learning virtually.


Two Cohorts: In-Person Everyday Cohort/ Virtual Cohort


Below are important details about the return of our students to Richard Butler School:


DAILY SCHEDULE

  • Phase 3 will begin on Monday, April 26, 2021. The school day will run from 8:00am - 12:35pm daily.

  • All virtual students will log in through their HOMEROOM Google Classroom at 8:00am each morning for attendance.

  • Attendance will be taken on a daily basis. If your child will be absent from school either virtually or in-person, please alert the main office.

  • We will continue with our same schedule, with the only exception being that in-person students will have Phys Ed twice weekly during the AM hours. Mr. Duchensky and Mrs. Worman will be sharing more details with their classes closer to the start of Phase 3.

  • Students are to be dropped off on Pearl Place and then they will proceed to their designated area in the school parking lot before entering the building, this includes bus students.

  • All students must put masks on prior to exiting their vehicles and whenever they are on school property.

  • All students using bus/van transportation must have a mask on while at their bus stop and while on the school bus.


DISMISSAL

  • If you need to pick up your child prior to the end of a school day, you will need to pick your child up before 12:00pm. Arrangements should be made earlier in the day through the main office.

  • Bus students will be called down for dismissal at 12:35pm.

  • Dismissal for students begins at 12:30pm. If you are picking up your child, do not park in the bus lanes to the right of the entrance of the school building.

  • All students will be dismissed by 12:35pm.

Butler High School



On Monday, April 26, 2021, as part of the Butler Public School District’s Phase 3 Restart and Recovery Plan, we will allow all our students to return to school every day. The Blue and Gold cohorts will combine to make one in-person everyday cohort. There will also be a virtual cohort available for those students wanting to continue learning virtually. To confirm your child is in the IN PERSON or VIRTUAL cohort starting April 26, 2021, please check your Genesis Parent Portal account. Go to the homepage of your child or children and look at the daily view calendar view. Scroll to the right of the daily calendar view of the schedule until you get to 4-26-2021. You will see one of the following cohorts:


In-School with a red schoolhouse icon ( In School) or


Virtual with a computer screen icon ( Virtual)


Please check this prior to our Phase 3 return to campus date of 4/26/2021 and let attendance know asap if there are any issues so it can be corrected. Please note there will be no more Blue or Gold cohorts as of 4/26/2021, only In-Person and Virtual.

DAILY SCHEDULE

  • All virtual students will log in through their Google Classroom at 8:00 AM each morning. Students will join their in-person classmates for the day.

  • Attendance will be taken on a daily and period basis. If your child will be absent from school either virtually or in-person, please alert the attendance office.

  • ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE will be available from 1:15 PM - 2:15 PM daily.

  • Please see the Daily Schedule at the end of this letter. (Same as Phase 1 and Phase 2)



DAILY ARRIVAL


  • Visitors, volunteers, or non-BHS students will not be allowed in the building until further notice unless given permission from the BHS administration.

  • If you must pick up your child before the end of the school day, please do so before 12:20 pm. We will have you sign your student out by the main entrance door.

  • Due to state guidelines, we will need to stagger student arrival and dismissal.

  • Arrival times at BHS for non-bus students will be 7:45 AM and 7:51 AM.

  • All students using bus/van transportation must have a mask on while at their bus stop and while on the school bus.

  • If your child qualifies for bus transportation, information (Route and Bus Stop) can be found on the Genesis Parent Portal.

  • Seniors will park in the lot or available parking around the perimeter of the building. We ask when dropping off students, please avoid entering the back parking lot. Drop-offs will be along the exterior of the building. All students will enter the back entrance to the HS main building or designated arts building entrance. Students need to practice social distance guidelines. (Masks need to be worn at all times) - and then proceed to the BHS main building back entrance or Arts building side entrance depending on the student’s location of the first-period class.


  • In-Person Group Arrival

    • Arrival time for BHS students will begin at 7:45 AM each morning.

    • Students arriving prior to 7:45 AM may sit in the BHS Media Center until they report class at 7:45 AM.


  • Daily Health Screening Form

    • Students will continue to use the scheduler activity app to complete the daily covid screening form. We ask that your child fills this out by 7:30 am each morning who are in-person. NO STUDENT WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE BUILDING WITHOUT FILLING OUT THE FORM. (This process has been in place since February 1, 2021, and it has been very smooth)


DAILY DISMISSAL


  • Students will be dismissed starting at 12:35 PM and exit the building through doors closest to their last class of the day, excluding the main building entrance point (entrance only). Times may have to be adjusted depending on student volume. TBD


  • Parents picking up should go along the perimeter of Butler High School on Bartholdi, Hasbrouck, and Belleview Avenue. Students will exit the building nearest to their last-period class to avoid congestion.

SEL DAY

On March 26, 2021, the Butler School District participated in SEL day. Teachers used choice boards to choose an SEL activity for their classes throughout the day. Our district partnered with SEL4US and we shared photos of our efforts on social media using #selday. Please see some of the fun photos below:
