Elementary Updates
Dear Elementary Parents,
Happy December! Please check the flyers in this newsletter for all of the fun events occurring this month. Of special interest is our Penguin Patch, Storytime with Mrs. Claus, & the DIY Santa's Workshop. We have a couple of weeks left prior to our Christmas break. Let's finish the semester strong and continue learning throughout the break.
To strengthen math and reading skills, family reading time and cooking are always a huge hit over the break. Students in grades 3-5 will also have access to ALEKS and all students will have access to Lexia to supplement learning over the winter break.
We look forward to seeing you and your child at our events during this fun-filled month!
Best Regards,
Monica Elizondo, M.Ed.

Secondary Updates
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we enter the end of the semester and reflect back, I am very grateful to be a part of STEM Academy.
I am so proud of our SAT scholars Jashon Lemons, Isaac Arrellano, and Alison Barnes. These three have not only proven themselves on a campus level but also shown their ability to compete across the state and nation. These three have earned our gratitude and our campus is so proud of them. In addition, our middle school students will be heading to Stanton Texas to compete in middle school UIL Academic competition. We have 6th through 8th grades who are competing in Spelling, Science, Calculator, and Social Studies. These students have worked with their sponsors to prepare for an academic competition that is highly competitive. Furthermore, we have had around 15 students from 6th – 12th grade that has stepped into either athletics, or fine arts, in addition to their core academics this semester. We have seen these students excel in their endeavors. One student, in particular, Haley Hart, has even placed in the TMEA Region Choir.
Last, but certainly not least, my team at the secondary level is just amazing. The teachers, and staff, here continually amaze me with their generosity of spirit. I see teachers stepping in to help students struggling near the holidays, giving extra time after school (that they are not compensated for), and volunteering to lead extracurricular activities all due to a love of their students. There are so many behind-the-scenes activities that take place, and this team never asks for accolades (even though they are so well deserved).
To say that I am left in humble at this time of the year is not an exaggeration. STEM is the place for students to excel.

Elementary STUCO enjoyed a visit from Madison Guerrero, a local rising artist from UTPB, as she spoke on how her Hispanic heritage inspires her art.
