Reading at Groves
We all are enjoying the conversation among our younger students as they have been reading and sharing The Year of Billy Miller by Kevin Henkes. We hope that this has been a positive experience for your child that encourages reading.
We have thirty 4th and 5th grade students participating in a Parent/Student Book Club. Students and parents are choosing the book to read and share.
Thanks to the Humble ISD Foundation for funding grants that enabled the purchase of books for these projects.
Spring Pictures will be February 6th

Parent and Staff Book Club
We are preparing for our 2nd Parent/Staff Book Club of the year. Our book selection this time is How Children Succeed by Paul Tough.
Why do some children succeed while others fail? The story we usually tell about childhood and success is the one about intelligence. Paul Tough argues that the qualities that matter most have more to do with character: skills like perseverance, curiosity, conscientiousness, optimism, and self-control.
Books are available for check out in the front office. Once again, we will provide two sessions to get together and discuss the themes/arguments within the text.
Tuesday, February 20 from 1:30 - 2:30
Thursday, February 22 from 6:30 - 7:30

Kickball Tournament
Remember how much fun it was to play kickball as a kid...now imagine how much more fun it will be to play as an adult. We will be closing our co-ed team sign ups soon and want to give everyone one last opportunity to sign up. Teams must have a minimum of 8 players, maximum of 12. 4 must be women, who will also be required to be on the field at all times. This is a community event and players from all areas are welcome!
