Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books teams are gearing up and ready to read! Family Partnership is super excited to have both a middle school and high school team ready and reading. We still need a couple students in the 5th/6th grade team and have room for one more in the 3rd/4th grade team. Is your student up for the challenge and fun?
The best thing about Battle of the Books is the friendly competition with friends. We also get to read books we may not pick out on our own, and every year I find at least one or two excellent gems! It's a great way to motivate students to read, and get excited about books.
Don't forget that all K-2 students are welcome to join us in our Battle of the Books Book club that will meet once a week for 5 weeks in January/February. We are gearing up with fun activities and look forward to seeing our friends and having fun with literature.
If you have a student who loves competition and loves reading, consider joining in on the fun. Contact Sponsor Heather DeBerry at 907-538-8751/ deberry_heather@asdk12.org for more information.

White Butterflies
by Algernon Charles Swinburne
Fly, white butterflies, out to sea,
Frail, pale wings for the wind to try,
Small white wings that we scarce can see, Fly!
Some fly light as a laugh of glee,
Some fly soft as a long, low sigh;
All to the haven where each would be, Fly!
Get ready for the fun by making poetry part of your day today!
Print out a poem put it in your pocket, read and memorize it on the go. Don't forget to have fun!
