The Snowy Day
I first realized I was a grownup the morning I woke to an overnight snowfall and, instead of thinking,"Yay, snow!" I thought, "Ugh, I have to drive in this." Since then, I have learned to ski and snowshoe and generally make the best of all the white stuff. I even look forward to it. But there is really nothing like just wandering and wondering at the beauty of winter.
Of course, winter is also a great time to curl up - by a fire, if you've got one - with a good book. I like to do some annual rereading of favorites as well as catching up with the big prize winners I missed the year before. If you're in need of ideas, I suggest checking out our own (OK, we share him with WAMC) Joe Donahue's "Best of 2016" list. If you're lucky enough to have a child to read with or just want to get back some of the joy of winter for yourself, this list from Goodreads should get you started.
Whatever you do, we at the Greenwich Free Library wish you a Happy New Year and months of good reading ahead.
