Little Coyote News
Welcome to Tornillo Elementary! 2022-2023
QT2 Week 6: Nov. 28-Dec.2
Season's Greetings Elementary Coyotes!
We hope you had a wonderful and beautiful Thanksgiving week with loved ones. We can't wait to see all our students back Monday, November 28. The next few weeks are always so exciting for all of us and are going to go by quickly. Did you know that December 1st will mark only 12 days until Winter Break? To help get into the spirit of the season, we want to encourage all our students to participate in the 12 Days Countdown by dressing up. You can find the dress-up calendar as well as other important days at the bottom of the newsletter.
This Friday, will be the last day of the six weeks grading period. We always encourage you to communicate with your child's teacher regularly to ensure that your child is making academic and social progress or anytime that you have questions.
Elementary Donation Drive
This holiday season, our students will be learning about being thankful and giving to others. In order to help those in need, our school is holding a drive to collect canned goods, toiletries, and baby items (diapers, lotion, bath soap). Our last day to collect any of these itmes is December 6.
All students received an invitation for December's Saturday Tutoring Camp a few days before Thanksgiving break. Please take a close look at it as your child's teacher will indicate a specific target area for your child.
For the month of December, there are two days scheduled for extended learning (Saturday Camp, Dec. 3 & Dec. 10). For December, students will receive 3 hours of academic practice and one hour of enrichment
We take a lot of pride in our attendance at Tornillo Elementary. Please help us maintain it at 98%!
1. When your child is absent, please send the doctor's note or parent note to the office the next day.
2. Tardy Bell rings at 7:50am. A student will receive a tardy slip every time they arrive late.
Last week's attendance:
1st grade- 94.92%
2nd Grade- 96.99%
Total for the Week: 95. 14%
