Simmons Elementary School

Dr. Robert Campman, Assistant Principal (

We hope this finds you and your family safe and sound. The tornado that hit Horsham last Wednesday afternoon knocked out power to many in the area and residents experienced storm damage and flooding. Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by the storm.

Simmons Elementary School experienced significant tree damage throughout the property. The utility poles fell onto Babylon Road. The school sign and fence were knocked over by the strong winds and uprooted trees. While there was some damage to the roof, we are fortunate that overall the building remained mostly untouched by the storm. As long as the power returns and the routes to school are safe to travel, we plan to have our Open House on Wednesday, September 8th from 1 to 3 p.m. More details are below.

REMINDER: The first day of school for all students will be Thursday, September 9th! Students may enter the building between 8:30 and 8:50 a.m. The school day begins at 8:50 a.m. and concludes at 3:30 p.m.

To those families observing Rosh Hashanah, Shanah Tovah! May the new year be filled with health, happiness, and sweet moments for you and your family.

Open House Wednesday, Sept. 8th

All school families are invited to attend our rescheduled annual open house on Wednesday afternoon, September 8th, to meet the teachers and see the classrooms. Because of our school's size and the increasing transmission rate of Covid-19 in the county, we are asking families to plan to come either between 1 and 2 p.m. OR between 2 and 3 p.m., depending on the student's last name.

  • 1 - 2 p.m. Students' last names A through Le
  • 2 - 3 p.m. Students' last names Li through Z

If your alphabetical time period does not work with your family schedule, you can come during the other block. We are trying to spread out the visits to the extent possible to minimize the number of people in the building. Please plan to only visit your child's teacher for the 2021-22 school year.

Following our district health and safety guidelines, all people inside the building should wear masks. Everyone should enter through the main lobby. The principals and staff members will greet you as you arrive, offering maps and tours to the classrooms.

For families who do not feel comfortable coming to the open house, please reach out to your child's teacher to set up a phone call or brief virtual meeting with the teacher.
