Weekly Story: Lucia's Neighborhood

Skills this week:

  • reading words with the short e sound (net,hen, peg, etc.)
  • reading labels and titles in a story
  • Learning new sight words
  • Review nouns for people , places, and things
  • Identify adjectives
  • putting words in ABC order

The students will have a spelling and sight word test on Friday.

We will be reading the story in class and working on answering comprehension questions about the story. The students will work with partners and play word games to learn the weekly sight words.

We will continue to work on strategies for addition including using manipulatives and 'counting on'. The students will determine all the ways to make 8, 9, and 10.

ex.( 0+8=8) ( 8+0=8) ( 1+7=8) ( 7+1=8) ( 2+6=8) ( 6+2=8 )etc.


This week we will begin our unit on the scientific skills of observation and comparing.


Mon. - math sheet; study sight words; choose one way to practice spelling words

Tues. - math sheet; study sight words; choose one way to practice spelling words

Thurs. - reading sheet; study sight words; take a practice spelling test in your spelling notebook.

Fri. - Reader's Response Journal is due back
