June 18th 2019
Dear KA Families,
After our curriculum share we will be handing out portfolio bags with student's work and assessments since September. We strongly encourage you to look through this folder with your child and show them the growth in their work. This is a wonderful starting place to talk to students about the connection between hard-work and learning. We are not born "intelligent," and no one is simply "smart," we become these things by persevering and learning from our mistakes.
On Friday we are sending home orange folders and our bags with a change of clothes for the summer. These do not return to our classroom.
Please return book baggies back to school this week for the final time as we will be needing these books for next year.
Looking forward to celebrating our class with you at our potluck after the curriculum share! We strongly encourage you to bring anything for this celebration. If you can not attend but would like to drop something off in the morning please let us know!
Warmly,
Deanna & Imani

Narrative Update
This week Narratives will be sent out. There has been a change to the reporting in Guided Reading. On the last Narrative we reported students instructional levels. Instructional level is the level students are working on with teachers. This round we are reporting students Independent Level. This is the level students can read and understand without teacher and parent support over the summer. For example, if a student is Instructional Level E, they are an Independent Level D.
