knowledge,so the loss of a language means the loss of cultural, of aborignal people's

connections to their ancestors

language is importance to the aboriganl people because if you take their language away from them you will take their life away from them and thay will feel upset and then thay will be nobody.

The Aboriginal name for shellharbour has been recorded as

both yerrowah (meeting place), and wonin, (place where

there were big fish). The Eurpeoan name shellharbour

refers to the large puantities of shells found in aborignal

middens along the foreshore in the early to mid 19th

century. due to mining of shells in the mid 19th century

for the production og lime these vast middens no longer remain
