March Newsletter
Hello Knox Families!
We have a lot of exciting things going on at Knox. Our ASB coordinated an exciting Semester 1 pep rally with music, games and some great spirit from the Cheerleaders, Majorettes and Drum line from Lincoln High School. Our Semester 1 awards ceremony was held on February 12th. Students with perfect attendance, 4.0 citizenship and 3.5 and higher GPA were celebrated for their efforts. Thank you parents for joining us at this event, and for your partnership.
During the month of October, Coach Burns and Ms. Potter had the opportunity to take some of our students on a tour of SDSU and to a SDSU Women's Basketball game. The students had a great time learning more about college.
REMINDER:
8th grade students need to earn passing grades in all of their classes by June 7th at 4:00pm for participation in our Knox Promotion Ceremony. A letter was sent out last week to all 8th grade families outlining the criteria for participation in promotion and all End of the Year activities. Please ask your student for this letter. You will need to sign it and return the bottom portion of the letter to your child's History teacher ASAP.
We will continue with our school-wide Advisory read aloud of the book Wonder. Please ask your student about the book. You might even go see the movie together! It has a great message of kindness. We will continue our Advisory read-aloud program, in order to promote our school-wide literacy focus.
Friday March 2nd, is Read Across America Day. Our Knox students will be reading to our friends at Baker Elementary. If any Knox parents would like to come read to our Advisory students, we will be reading Wonder from 8:15-8:45 in all classes that morning. Please reach out to Ms. Watkins - lcruz@sandi.net, to sign up to read to an Advisory class at Knox.
Our library is open! We encourage all students to read for 20 minutes a night independently. Students can check out books during Advisory or lunch time.
All Knox students have nightly math homework. Homework is assigned from a math packet that is given to the students at the start of each chapter.
Please remind your student to stay on the sidewalk when walking home from school. This is very important for student safety. Also, all students that ride bikes, skateboards, and scooters must have a helmet.
GO BULLDOGS!!
Attendance Matters
We will continue to provide incentives to students that clear all of their missed days, showing responsible attendance!
Knox is open from 8-12 on Saturdays and some Sundays.
If your student has missed any days of school, please consider sending them to Saturday School next weekend.
