Welcome to March
Happy National Women's Month!
Think warm thoughts - spring is on the way!
Spring brings with it good news - the end is in sight in terms of getting into the new library building. Most of the structural work is complete or nearly complete as of this newsletter, and the remaining work is largely cosmetic before we begin moving things up the street. We're so close!
We want to give a huge thank you to everyone that's been involved in making the new library location a reality - it has taken a lot of time and effort, but the end result will be worth it.
In the meantime, as we're gearing up for the grand opening (still TBD), we've got lots of neat programs, events, and celebrations in store. This month we'll be celebrating Women's History!
Last month at the Upper Skagit Library we...
... played Winter Reading Fitness Bingo!
We partnered with 5b's Bakery this year for Winter Reading Fitness Bingo, which began on Jan. 15th and ended Feb. 28th. Participants were to complete a row of challenges on the card to win an entry towards the grand prize. Blackout cards earned three entries towards the prize. In addition, stopping by 5b's with completed bingo cards earned participants an UGLI Bar*!

Congrats to our grand prize winner Nancy Paw, who received a $50 Amazon gift card.
This month at the Upper Skagit Library...
Women's History Month
This year, the National Women’s History Alliance theme is Visionary Women: Champions of Peace and Nonviolence. This year's honorees are eleven women who have devoted their lives to the cause of peace and justice; from opposing nuclear weapons and ending domestic violence, to promoting nonviolent action and advocating peaceful co-existence. In addition, we will also be honoring all the women who have won the Nobel Peace Prize.
Come by the Library to learn about the women whose courageous and selfless deeds have and do improve the quality of so many lives, and take away information on them through books, handouts, women’s history IQ tests, and much more! You can also participate by sharing with us a few words about a woman in history you admire, and why, on our display.
