Weekly Update

Strive Center for Autism - June 11, 2021

Fun Fridays

We'll keep listing these in the newsletter for a quick and easy spot for you to check them, and we'll send Remind messages each Thursday to help you keep up to date!

June 18th - Pajama Day AND Reading Buddies. We'll take a blanket and some books outside, pair up with a buddy and read together!

June 24th - We'll have Fun Friday on a Thursday, due to the centers being closed on June 25th for Professional Development for staff - Beach Day - wear your sunglasses, shorts, hats, whatever makes you ready for the beach! AND Sink or Float science activity (another fun activity with water outside!)

We won't have a "cooking" activity until July, and we will let parents know our planned ingredients, so you can reach out if there are any diet or allergy concerns. As always, feel free to send a different treat if needed for your child to make that day special!

May Leaves

As you know, at the Strive Centers we celebrate all the growth each child experiences in our care. When a child masters a new skill, we send home "leaves", stickers for families to put on their own Tree of Possibilities poster at home to celebrate your growth. In the month of May, our learners acquired 142 new skills!

That brings our total for the year to 921 skills acquired in 2021! That's absolutely amazing, and we are so proud of these learners!

Under the Sea in June

Our theme for June is Ocean. Children are enjoying songs with ocean animals, playing with sensory bins filled with sand for the beach or blue rice to represent the water, and making all kinds of ocean themed crafts.

One of our favorite songs all the time, but especially this month, is Over the Deep Blue Sea.

We're also camping in dramatic play, because it's just such a fun summer activity!
