Principal's News
July 21st, 2017
Hello
I hope this newsletter finds you enjoying your summer and relaxing. In an effort to improve communication and relationships with parents I will be sending a monthly newsletter with updates to keep you informed of how we are doing towards our building goals and initiatives. The purpose is for you to have a better understanding of everything we are working on at Harvest Ridge to ensure your child's success. You will still receive all of our other communication through ENews, Remind 101, and the Soaring Hawk. This will just be a way to receive direct communication straight from the principal.
Meet Dr. DeWeese
In 2001, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Lindenwood University. During my time in college I worked as a teacher in a Montessori Preschool. A few years later in 2005, I graduate with a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education specializing in reading from Lindenwood University. In 2010, I graduated with a Masters of Arts degree in Elementary Administration. I then went on to pursue a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Maryville University and graduated in 2012.
My husband Kyle and I have been married ten years this October. We have spent the last ten years living in Wentzville and raising our two sons Brady (7) and Jaxon (5). Kyle teaches and coaches basketball at Timberland High School and my boys attend Boone Trail Elementary both in the Wentzville School District. When we aren't spending time as a family, Kyle and I enjoy attending Mizzou football games, Cardinal Baseball games, and just recently I am testing his patience as he teaches me how to play golf. Life in a house of boys is never dull, but I certainly wouldn't have it any other way.
I am honored every day that I get to come and be a part of your children's education. As a parent, a principal, and an educator I believe that it really does take a village to raise a child. I am thrilled that I get to be a part of your child's village. It is my top priority to ensure that your child/children love coming to school to learn in a safe and positive environment. I believe that all children deserve a top notch education to prepare them for their future and it is my goal to partner with you, your child/children, and the staff at Harvest Ridge to make that happen.

Who Said Principals Get the Summer Off?
We also had the opportunity this summer to participate in active shooter training put on by the St. Charles County SWAT Team. We spent an entire afternoon learning about strategies to take back to the school to ensure safety and to help us be better prepared. While we find it unfortunate that it is a topic we have to discuss, we are excited that the district provided this training for us and we are looking forward to bringing this training to our staff.
As administrators we feel very fortunate to work in a district that not only values learning for students and teachers, but also for administrators. We are counting down the days to be able to put all of our new learning into practice this upcoming school year for the success of our students.
