Principal's Post
Happy Friday Everyone,
This week, I would like to thank the Mill Creek Home and School Association members, parent volunteers, and all who attended the most recent Mill Creek Family Fun Night, So You Think You Can Dance - Family Edition!!! This 2nd and 3rd grade event gave the boys and girls, and their families, a chance to learn some very popular dances (classic and modern). As you can see from the pictures above, the event was well attended and a lot of fun. The DJ spun the tunes, and the dancers followed the dances' moves which were demonstrated by CB South students (including some of the CB South Cheerleaders).
Special thanks go to Mrs. Barnhart, Mrs. Bruzas, Mrs. Byrne, Mrs. Gates, and Mrs. Hasemeyer for coordinating this very enjoyable event!!!
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Shawn M. Ortman

Happy Friday Creekers!
Congratulations to all of our students that participated in last night's Reading Olympics event at Bridge Valley! Thank you to all of the families that came out to cheer our students on, as they demonstrated all of our CREEKERS' Code traits.
A big thank you to Mrs. Hiriak for organizing the Mill Creek teams and to all of the teachers/staff members that made the night a huge success!
Enjoy the weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Adelman
2019-2020 Classroom Placement Procedures
We want to make sure that you are all aware of the school actions that lead to next year's student classroom assignments.
The professional staff is involved in placement decisions for our students. Classroom teachers are asked to summarize the academic and social growth of the students in their classes in preparation for classroom placement decisions. The entire grade level team cooperates with the Student Support Counselors, Reading Specialists, Mrs. Adelman, and me to determine each individual child’s placement. The whole team takes part in creating combinations of children to form balanced classrooms. The classes are designed to be heterogeneous with a wide range of characteristics, needs, and abilities (academic, social and emotional). We carefully examine the strengths, needs, and personalities within each homeroom group. The grade level team reviews each child’s needs in relation to the classroom groups created. Once we believe the classrooms are well balanced, the teachers have completed their part of the process.
Following the completion of the professional staff phases, Mrs. Adelman and I review the class groupings again, but from a school-wide perspective. It is our responsibility to match the class with a specific teacher.
Students will have an opportunity to meet the teachers of the next grade level on June 13th, Move-Up Day. The objective of that day is to reduce student anxiety by having each child meet his/her teacher and classmates prior to the summer break.
If you have information about your child’s learning style that you feel is important for the Mill Creek placement team to have prior to placement, please send an e-mail to me that includes that information on or before Friday, April 12th. While we value and consider any information you provide and will give it careful consideration, there is no guarantee about specific placement requests. Please be sure to meet the April 12th deadline.
Please do not request a teacher or request that specific students be placed with your child.
Kindergarten Registration
If your child will be eligible to start kindergarten in September, now is the time to register! Kindergarten students must be five years of age on or before August 31, 2019. Register online today! Get the details at https://www.cbsd.org/registration
