Leeper Lake

Robert E. Lee Intermediate 5th grade students were able to experience a day camp at Leeper Lake, which extended student learning beyond the classroom. This unique opportunity allowed the students to experience first-hand the Life Science learning objectives covered in the classroom. Manufacturing Day

100 GHS juniors and seniors interested in pursuing a technical field after high school were invited by the Gainesville Economic Development Corporaton to attend the annual Manufacturing Day on Thursday, October 26. The day began with tours of various local manufacturing facilities, where they got to see the inside day-to-day operation. They were then treated to an informative lunch session with manufacturing executives from the area and a "tradeshow" featuring all of the participating manufacturers. Thank you GEDC and the entire Cooke County Manufacturing Consortium for providing this opportunity and helping launch each of our students into their career of choice.

GISD Moves Forward with New GHS Ag Facility

At the October 16 Board of Trustees meeting, the Board unanimously voted to approve moving forward in the construction of the proposed 8,000 sf Agricultural facility. The project is still in the design phase, after which GISD will begin accepting bids for the construction. The facility will be located on the southwest corner of the high school.

Bass Fishing Team Prepares for Second Tournament

The GHS Bass Fishinbg team is in it's second year and is off to a great start. At the first tournament of the season at Lake Ray Roberts, the team placed 7th with 4 teams placing in the top 50 out of 242 teams. This was anchored by a 9th place finish by Dawson Cassidy and Hunter Nichols. The team is currently in 7th place in the Team of the Year Standings out of 36 schools in our division. This time last year they were in 14th place. The second tournament of the season is Saturday, October 28, at Lake Lewisville. The weigh in will begin around 3 pm at Lake Park at Lake Lewisville.

Chalmers PTO Fall Festival

Big THANK YOU to our Chalmers PTO and high school students for putting on a Fall Festival. Such a great turnout, parents, staff, and students having so much fun! We had cake walks, pumpkin contests, raffles, food and candy. What a wonderful night!

GHS Speech & Debate Earn 5 Medals

A total of 18 GHS students competed in various events including Varsity CX Debate, Novice CX Debate, Varsity LD Debate, Novice LD Debate, Congressional Debate, Prose Interpretation, & Poetry Interpretation with close to 500 other students from around the North Texas area.

Medal winners were:
Niaomi Dawson - 2nd Place Poetry (out of 33 contestants)

Briston Raines - 3rd Place Novice LD Debate (out of 95 contestants)

Tucker Craft - 3rd Place Congress (out of 84 contestants)

Matilin Rigsby / Dillon Edington - 6th Place Varsity CX Debate (out of 18 teams)


United Way/Kiwanis Partner to Provide Books to Head Start

Thank you United Way! Thank you Angie Hare! Thank you to those who support United Way! We received our Grant to help us provide the kids at Headstart with a new book every story time! For those who don't know; We read to the kids at Headstart. This $2000.00 Grant allows us to be able to provide each kid we read to with the book that we read. This way they can take the book home and enjoy it time and time again with their families as part of our Give a Kid a Book project.
