Dear SFCS Parents & Friends,

It was a great beginning of November this week at St. Francis Catholic School!

The 2nd grade students did a wonderful job with their All Saint's Presentation after Mass on Wednesday! Thank you to Mrs. Gaherty & Mrs. Schoeppe for preparing the students and the parents did a wonderful job with the costumes!

Don't forget to change your clocks this weekend! It is Fall Back and we will all get an extra hour of sleep on Saturday night!

The annual Parish Ministry Fair is this Sunday in the Family Center after the 9:00am and 10:30am Masses. Stop by, grab a donut and check out all the wonderful opportunities our Parish offers in growing in our faith together as well as to serve the members of our community! Stop by the SFCS table and say hello!

Next Thursday is Veteran's Day! It will be a patriotic Spirit Day were students may come to school in red, white, blue or flag themed clothing. We are asking for a minimum $2.00 dollar donation that will go towards the Wounded Warrior Foundation. Spirit Wear dress code policies still apply.

Every year SFCS conducts surveys for parents, faculty and students to provide input that will be used in development of our school's strategic improvement plan. Your participation is requested and greatly needed to assist SFCS to grow and improve. Please click the link below and select St. Francis Catholic School. Thank you for your time!! and input!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Kindergarten

Kindergarten had a fabulous week! We highlighted the importance of prayerfulness, not only in church but also in our daily prayers. The students celebrated All Saints Day throughout the week and learned about many of the special Saints who can pray for us. We are becoming experts at our sight words and closed out our Weather Unit with a fun Seasons handprint activity!

2nd Grade

As the idiom goes: "Two heads are better than one!" How nicely the students worked together on a Math review!

The Saints Go Marching In!

We had a wonderful celebration of the saints thanks to our 2nd graders!

4th Grade Science Lab

The students were challenged to make a closed circuit that would light the bulb.

5th Grade

Our 5th Graders did an outstanding job on their Saint Reports. Through their intercessions, we strive for Sainthood by living out the Virtues. All you Holy Men and Women……pray for us.

8th Grade English Honors I

Mrs. Fitz treated the students to breakfast on Friday to celebrate their excellent work in essay writing!

IXL Summer Slam

Due to quarantines and other circumstances earlier in the year, we were finally able to treat our IXL Summer Slam participants to ice cream! These students completed at least 50 IXL math skills over the summer! We are so proud of their hard work and the commitment that it took to meet this challenge!

Fashion Forward

Girls are sporting their khaki pants on the cool weather days!

Zoara the Comfort Dog

SFCS students always welcome a visit from Zoara!

First Quarter Assembly

We had our first assembly in over a year on Friday to celebrate our students' academic, athletic and spiritual achievements! Pictured on the right: Spirit of St. Francis Award Winners!

Coach's Corner

SFCS Basketball Developmental Program Signups…our program is in its second year and geared for kids in pre-k through 4th grade. Since Upward Basketball is definitely a “no-go” again this year, there will be limited options on the island for young hoopsters this winter. Our Saturday morning program is fast-paced and a fun way for kids to learn some basic basketball skills while also having the opportunity to play some small-sided games. We hope that you’ll consider joining us again this January and February. Due to safety precautions, program space will be limited. Click on the link below to print out a copy of the Registration Packet.

Searching for Boys’ and Girls’ Head Soccer Coaches for the spring…the soccer season is only March and April. Without a field here on campus, practices are at Barker Field and our games are at local schools. It’s a lot of fun getting back outside with the kids after the cold winter months! Please email me at mweaver@sfcshhi.com if you are interested.

Looking for help during HOME BASKETBALL NIGHTS…need an adult to help manage and supervise the gym on HOME game nights. Due a lack of coaches, I will be coaching both Senior Basketball teams this year…it’s the reality of the situation in order to have (4) basketball teams this season. This person would oversee gym operations and various parent volunteers on game nights from 3:30-6:30/7pm. If interested, please email me at mweaver@sfcshhi.com.

Join the Official School Facebook page…stay connected through pictures and commentary on all the latest happenings with our school teams. Any upcoming special events will be posted here as well. So please join our Facebook page today!!

OUR PRAYER

Dear Jesus,

Help me to show reverence to people who are in authority over
