Force And Motion
Newtons laws
Force & Motion
What are simple machines, what are compound machines? First, compound machines are two or more simple machines in one and there are six simple Machines a inclined plane, wedge, screw, lever, wheel and axle, and a Pully these help make work easier.
First law
Objects in motion will stay in motion and objects at rest will stay at rest unles acted apon a outside force
Example: if you hit a golf ball it will slow down and stop because an outside force (grass) acts upon it.
Second law
F=ma force = mass acceleration the grater the force the grater the speed
Example: if you sit in a chair you are putting force on the chair but the chair is also putting force on you.
Third and last law
For every action there is a equal reaction
Example: if you are in the water on a raft and you jump off of it you are jumping one way and it goes the other way
Pully
A pully is a groved wheel with a rope around it to make moving things easier. For example a mini blind is a pully.
Lever
Every lever has a fulcrum. The fulcrum is the fixed point of a lever like a see-saw.
Inclined plane
A inclined plane is a flat surface tilted at a angle for example a slide is a inclined plane.
Screw
A screw is like a inclined plane rapped around and around many times. An example is a screw on lid
Wedge
A wedge is a peice of materiel that is thik on top and gets thiner on the bottom. For example a door stopper.
Wheel and axel
A wheel and axel is a wheel rotating rod also known as a axle. For example a door nobe.
