Guidance Newsletter March/April
Cell Phone/Smart Watch use at school
Students are prohibited from using personal electronic devices such as cell phones, smart watches, (including children's smart watches such as Gizmos, Garmin, etc.) during the school day. If they are brought to school, the item must be turned off and stored in their locker, cubbie or backpacks. Parents and students should refrain from texting and calling each other during the school day. If you must relay a message to your child, please contact the office. If your child is sick or needs to speak with you, please follow the safety guidelines and have them come to the health office or main office to reach you. If students choose to use these items outside of the guidelines, they will be taken and held by the teacher or office to the end of the day.
When a student feels ill they must come to the health office first and the health staff will contact the parent if necessary. This helps to best monitor the health-related illnesses within our building.
Thank you for encouraging your student to follow the rules!

Small Electronics Recycling begins March 9
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle March 9-13, 2020
One last reminder that this week is a time you can clear out your old cell phones, mp3 players, ipods, ipads, tablets etc. - any small consumer electronics no longer serving a purpose in your lives. You should be able to find a recycling box in your building's office or LMTC courtesy of our middle school Wild Club.
Everything will be sent for secure recycling to Heartland Business Systems at the end of this week.
Thanks for considering and for encouraging others to do so as well,

Waunakee Intermediate School Collects Box Tops!
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Did you know that the process for redeeming Box Tops for Education has changed? Instead of clipping the coupon off the product, you can simply scan your receipt into an app on your phone (within 14 days of purchase). Box Tops helps our school earn money towards exciting events and prizes for our middle school students.
It's easy to do. Just search for "Box Tops for Education" in Google Play or the App Store, select "Waunakee Intermediate School", and start scanning those receipts!
Still have some Box Tops clippings? No problem. We will submit any that are not expired.
To learn about which companies participate in Box Tops, click here. You may also visit their website for more information about how to electronically redeem them.
Thank you again for helping raise money for our school!
