Our First Week in Review

On Tuesday, August 13th, VFES teachers welcomed 336 students to their classrooms.

Throughout the week students reconnected with classmates from last year (and met our new friends who have joined us), participated in lessons that the teachers prepared, and learned the schedule/routines that will help them stay on track this school year.

On Friday we kicked off our new HERO program, which promotes positive behavior choices. We are learning about the importance of being Honest, Engaged, Respectful, and Organized.

Upcoming Activities

During the week of August 19th-23rd, students will be completing STAR testing. Primary grades will also be Dibels testing. Our guidance counselor, Mrs. Vaughn, will be meeting with individual classes throughout the next couple weeks.

Car Rider Tags

If your child is a car rider and you don't already have the hanging tag for your rearview mirror, please stop by the office this week or let us know how many to send home with your child.

General Dismissal Information

Before and after school, parents should drop off and pick up students via the doors on the west side of the building. The only times that parents should drop off or pick up students via the front doors are during school hours (due to appointments, illness, or other circumstances that would cause students to miss part of the school day).

The YMCA After School Program

The YMCA is offering an after school program to VFES this year. Parents must complete a registration form at the YMCA in order to get their child(ren) signed up for the program. The cost is $10 per week. As of Friday, August 16th, the program is currently full; however, parents can still register their child to be put on the waiting list.

Volunteer Opportunities at VFES

Throughout the school year, there will be opportunities for adults to volunteer at VFES. In order to be eligible to help with events, chaperone field trips, and volunteer throughout the school, you must complete/submit a Volunteer Registration Form, which is located in the office. The process takes time to complete, so please turn in your form as soon as possible.
