Message From Our Principal

Iditarod Families,

We continue to have a school-wide goal this year to demonstrate to every student that there are an abundance of adults in the building they can trust. We have been encouraging students to use our trophy case as a guide for identifying the staff that work in our building that they can always turn to for help.

We will be working hard to establish common expectations for: Arrival, Dismissal, Hallway, Assembly, Bathroom, & Drills. We will also be partnering with our students to ensure that everyone is Safe, Respectful, Responsible, and Kind at Recess.

This year, we will be matching our Husky Paws with our Values of the Month. Students will be recognized with a Husky Paw by staff members as they demonstrate these values. While student names will continue to be read each morning during the announcements, students will only be eligible for a prize after the collection of 5 Husky Paws. The Iditarod Elementary School Values of the Month are: Success for August, Respect for September, Citizenship for October, Sharing for November, Compassion for December, Responsibility for January, Honesty for February, Fairness for March, Character for April, and Perseverance for May. We invite you to help us practice these values inside and outside the school environment.

We will continue to make every effort to celebrate our incredible students as much and as often as possible by hosting Awards Assemblies at the end of each month. All parents, community, and family members are welcome to attend. At these assemblies, we will be giving out awards for Students of the Month, Recess, Classroom, and Student Activities. Our Student Leadership Team will also be handing out awards to their peers who have exhibited our Value of the Month. While not every student in attendance will receive an award at this assembly, we believe strongly that having a large audience of supporters helps us build a school culture where all students feel appreciated and celebrated. We will advertise the dates/times closer to the assemblies and hope to see you there!

We are also excited to continue strengthening our connections to the students, parents, and community by providing a plethora of educational opportunities at Iditarod that reflect what all stakeholders value. We have so many engaging events planned this school year and ask that you stay tuned to our Facebook page for details. We take your input very seriously and encourage you to continue to provide us with the essential feedback we need to improve our school operations.

Looking forward to a meaningful school year!

Sincerely,

Principal Jones

SCHOOL STORE FUNDRAISER

Hello Parents,

I want to personally thank all the families who have already participated in our SchoolStore fundraiser! We have 189 students who have registered and earned their ocean animal hugger. We are on our way to reaching our goal, but we need everyone's help to make sure our teachers get the essential tools they need to help our students succeed.

If your family has not participated, there's still time!

This safe and easy fundraiser is 100% online so there is no face-to-face selling, collecting money, or delivering products. Your child will receive a prize just for participating, and more prizes will be awarded when goals are reached.

Please help now. It really will make a difference.

Go to https://www.schoolstore.net/sid.t?0000135047 to show our valued teachers your support.

Thanks

Iditarod Elementary School

P.S. Family participation is the key to our success, and we are counting on you!
