It's National School Counselors Week!

This week we are delighted to celebrate our amazing counselors, Mrs. Ciara Reese & Mrs. Chelsey Smithley in honor of National School Counselor Week.

Each day they pour into our students and staff, and we invite you to reciprocate the sentiment this week. Send a note of appreciation or share a piece of candy. They are such a special gift to us. Let’s show them just how much.

Make Magic Happen!

TCA+A’s Annual Campaign kicks off on February 1st with a goal to raise $50,000 in six weeks and we need help from you to make this happen. We know you all have extraordinary talents to offer, so if you would like to be part of our Annual Campaign efforts, please join us for our second committee meeting on Wednesday 1/25 at 11am via Zoom or contact gabrielle.galloway@artsacademics.org to let her know of your interest.

The Annual Campaign is 1 of just 2 fundraisers that TCA+A holds each year. Federal funding keeps the lights on at our charter schools, but it is TCA+A dollars that ensure a challenging and robust educational experience for all students. The Annual Campaign supports everything from classroom supplies, technology upgrades, costumes for our vast performances, transportation needs, and evidence-based curriculums so that we can provide one-of-a-kind instruction to all students. Visit our website for more information.

Survey: Southwest Regional Branch Library Survey

We are partnering with the Southwest Regional Library that is across the street. They have put together this survey to get input from our community about services and programming that would be of interest. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey.

Texas Education Agency 2022 School Report Card

The purpose of the school report card (SRC) is to inform parents and guardians about a campus’ individual characteristics and its academic performance. Districts and campuses receive an overall rating, as well as a rating for each domain. The rating labels for districts and campuses are as follows:

  • A, B, or C: Assigned for overall performance and for performance in each domain to districts and campuses (including those evaluated under alternative education accountability (AEA)) that meet the performance target for the letter grade.
  • Not Rated: Senate Bill 1365: Assigned in 2022 for overall performance to districts and campuses that do not meet the performance target to earn at least a C.

FWAFA’s SRCs may be located at this link.

Title 1 Student - Teacher - Parent Compact

The Title 1 Compact is an important document which outlines the expectations of our students, parents, and staff as members of our school community. This pledge is an agreement designed to promote a partnership between the home and the school and can be viewed at this link.

Volunteer at John Peter Smith Hospital

Would you like to use your creativity to help others?

There are so many ways to help as a John Peter Smith Hospital Volunteer!

Students 16 and older can participate in Traditional Volunteering roles while younger students or those with busy schedules can help virtually through the Student Serve & Learn Program. You might have a drive to collect items to donate to patients, such as reading glasses, stuffed animals, word puzzles, magazines or baby blankets. You might sew fidget blankets or warm knitted hats to give to patients! These can even be done as a family or friend group!

You can explore options to sing in the Oncology center or perform with a musical instrument in a clinic lobby. Benefits of volunteering include learning new skills, responsibility, collaboration, time management, community engagement, and service hours that look great on your CV and count towards the FWAFA Community Service Award!

But most importantly, volunteering will give you a sense of happiness that you helped make someone's day better!
