Propagation: Air Layering

Materials
- Sharp knife
- Toothpick
- Twist ties
- Small clear plastic sheet
- Water
- 3 to 4 handfuls of sphagnum moss
- Rooting hormone (optional)
Procedure
- Make a slanting cut into the stem (1/3 diameter through)
- Keep the wound open using a toothpick
- Push rooting hormone into open wound
- Saturate the moss with water
- Wrap the moss around the wounded portion of the stem
- Wrap a sheet of clear plastic tight around the ball of moss (wrap around twice)
- Use twist ties to secure plastic
- Wait to be able to see root development through the moss, and then the newly rooted portion is ready for planting
