Who is Jeni?

A Brief Introduction

Hi all!

This is my 4th semester in the EdTech Masters program. I have already learned so much from each of the classes, and cannot wait to expand on the topic of EdTech even further! It is so nice to have familiar names and faces, and great to meet new classmates too!

Professional Life

I am an Instructional Technologist for Putnam City Schools in OKC. I have been with the district for 27 years (currently in my 28th) in various roles (elementary, secondary science, gifted education) before moving to my current position 3.5 years ago. I love that I now have the opportunity to help teachers and students utilize technology to enhance learning all across our district.
Here are a few of the ways that I assist with technology integration:
  • Provide faculty/staff professional development through face-to-face and online learning opportunities.
  • Assist in the creation of digital curriculum across subjects and grade-levels
  • Manage Google Apps for Education resources for both teachers and students
  • Provide face-to-face and online learning opportunities for students from PK-12 in technology use
  • Manage and create curriculum for MinecraftEDU for over 30 academic programs across the district (PK-12)
  • Create curriculum and provide instruction in coding and web/game design for all grade levels (PK-12)

Personal Life

I have the best hubby around and the most amazing daughters! One of my girls is in college working toward a degree in Nursing, while the other is in HS and attending a program in 2D/3D Animation. We definitely love all things nerdy - gaming, comics, Harry Potter, superheroes, etc. Our most recent family vacation was a week at San Diego Comic Con with 150,000 of our closest geeky friends. It was incredible!

I look forward to another great class and learning with everyone! I am eager to learn new ways that technology can have a positive impact on teaching and learning.
