Principal's Message
Has a Pleasant Union staff member exceeded your expectations during remote learning? The county has an opportunity for you to nominate this staff member for district level recognition. Here is a message from the district: We know there are so many amazing WCPSS employees going above and beyond to help students, families and our colleagues during these challenging times. Please use this form to nominate a #WCPSSHero we can spotlight on @WCPSSTeam and WakeConnect.
Calendar for 2020-2021
WCPSS shared the proposed calendar for next year. The Board of Education will look at these calendars again on June 2. There is a site you can visit if you have feedback on the calendars. The link is provided here.
Pick Up of Student Materials
In order to facilitate parent pick-up of student materials, we will open the building the week of June 1st so that you may pick up items. You may want to pick up the following items:
Coats
Lunch Boxes
Medication
Report Card (if you do not have an email address)
We will follow the schedule below to promote social distancing and limit the number of people in the building at a time.
Schedule
Monday, June 1 Track 1 families may pick up student materials between 10:00am-12:00pm.
Tuesday, June 2 Track 2 families may pick up student materials between 10:00am-12:00pm.
Wednesday, June 3 Track 3 families may pick up student materials between 10:00am-12:00pm
Thursday, June 4 Track 4 families may pick up student materials between 10:00am-12:00pm
We request that families who choose to access the school building for pick up of student materials, wear a face covering and it is recommended you wear gloves.
Families should limit the size of their group.
Social distancing must be followed while on campus
In some cases, parents may have items they would like to return to the school. Devices, such as hot spots or Chromebooks will only be collected if a student is not returning to a WCPSS school next year. Library books will only be collected if a student is not attending a WCPSS school next year. Rising 6th graders attending a WCPSS school next year will return library books and devices checked out to their middle school. The district will coordinate a process for return when school resumes next year. Parents please label the items you are returning.
If you or anyone in your home is ill or experiencing any symptoms please do not come pick up items. We can arrange for a pick up time at a later time, when you are well.
PUE PTA Update
I hope you are safe and well. I spoke with our Lifetouch representative regarding yearbooks. Lifetouch is behind schedule. They had to shut operations down for several weeks and have not been able to conduct normal business operations considering the social distancing restrictions, etc. Lifetouch will email us when they ship the yearbooks. Unfortunately, we do not know if they will arrive prior to the end of the current school year. We will send a message to all parents when the yearbooks arrive and the PUE administration and the PTA have a plan for distributing the yearbooks to the families. We will make sure all families that have purchased a yearbook will receive their yearbook.

Announcements
Memorial Day
Monday, May 25 is Memorial Day. There will be no remote learning. We will take this time and remember those who gave their lives for our nation.
Bus Riders for the 2020-2021 School Year
Though we do not yet know what impact COVID-19 might have on school schedules for the next school year, we need to begin planning bus routes. Bus rider registration will open on May 11. Students who rode the bus in 2019-20 will be notified via School Messenger on May 12. If your child is eligible for transportation and will be riding the bus to the same school next year, you don’t need to take any action. If you need to update your bus service needs for the 2020-21 school year, please go to www.wcpss.net/busrider and let us know.
Families Not Returning To PUE
If your family is moving out of our base attendance zone or if your student will be attending a charter or private school for 2020-21 school year, please email jbaginski@wcpss.net.
