Charger Check-In
August 4, 2023
A Note from Ms. Owens
August has arrived! Eeeeek! I'm looking forward to the return of our dear students and our amazing faculty and staff. But this summer has flown right by me.
I know many families are curious about our positions for 7th/8th grade science and music teachers. I don't have anything to announce yet, but I'm hopeful that I'll have news to share soon. Say a prayer, cross your fingers and say another prayer.
Ticket sales for the Charger Crawl open on Tuesday, August 8 at 6PM. Scroll down for more information! This event is limited to 150 attendees.
We are just two weeks away from Packet Pick Up Day!
- Packet Pick Up Day is scheduled for Thursday, August 17. Scroll down for more information.
- Families can stop by the church vestibule on Wednesday, August 16 between 8AM and 1PM to pick up paperwork envelopes.
FSA's Eat & Earn is Monday, August 28 at Lou Malnati's (5621 W. 95th Street, Oak Lawn). Our FSA sponsors Eat & Earns about once per month during the school year. I encourage you to share the Eat & Earn information with family and friends and to support these events when they occur. Last year, Eat & Earns brought in over $1,880 to help FSA support our teachers and students.
Here is a quick note regarding uniform polos for girls in 5th-8th grades. Girls have the option of wearing either ribbed or non-ribbed polos shirts from Schoolbelles. Families will see that ribbed polos have a higher price than non-ribbed polo shirts; however, please note that non-ribbed polo shirts need to be tucked into uniform skirts. I encourage you to consider purchasing the ribbed polos which will eliminate the concern of untucked polos shirts for girls in 5th-8th grades.
Students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades have summer reading assignments. In case your student didn't share that information, the assignments are available below.
A Bit More News...

- PE uniforms and regular school uniforms can be purchased at Schools Are Us [3146 West 111th Street, Chicago (773) 779-0172]. They do not offer online sales.

Packet Pick-Up Day - Thursday, 8.17.23
- Families who would like to complete all paperwork in advance will have an opportunity to pick up the paperwork envelope on Wednesday, August 16. Any adult can pick up the envelope (neighbors, grandparents, etc.) in the church vestibule between 8AM and 1PM that day.
- Once again this year, we will ask each family to sign up for a time slot for Packet Pick-Up Day. Our purpose is to reduce the length of the lines.
- Each family is ONE slot. There is no need to record the number of SCA students in your family in the "Quantity" question. Leave it as "1".
- Families will need to have completed their paperwork in order to begin the Packet Pick Up process.
- Please click on the button below for more important details.
Charger Crawl - Ticket Sales Open 8.8 at 6PM
My name is Rhonda Knight and I am one of the Chairs of the SCA Charger Crawl. I would like to invite you to participate in this year's event and wanted to tell you a bit about this awesome event.
What is the Charger Crawl?
The Charger Crawl is a Family School Association event held at the start of each school year to bring school parents together to socialize, cocktail and eat at local school family homes. All 150 parents meet at the first house and then spend the next three hours rotating between three middle houses meeting new parents and hanging out with veteran families in a casual environment. All 150 attendees then meet up again at the final house to end the evening.
What is the cost of the Charger Crawl?
The Charger Crawl is $75 per person and your ticket includes Charger swag, cocktails (beer, wine, seltzers, specialty drinks and water), appetizers and a food truck at the final house.
How do I register?
Get your fastest fingers ready on Tuesday, August 8th at 6pm as this event always sells out fast! Above is a flyer with a QR code and link. At 6pm on 08/08 the link will go live and the first 150 people to register will be in. All registered attendees will receive an email confirmation and payment is then required within 24 hours or your spot will be released to someone on the waitlist. Payment will be to the FSA Venmo or you can drop a check or cash off at my house (details are included in the registration form). All other responses will go to a waitlist and be contacted if and when a spot becomes available.
Why should you come?
The Crawl is a great way to meet new families and have a great night out all at once. We make sure to mix the crowds at each house switch so you will get to hang with everyone! This year's Crawl will have a theme and some new contests and games! It is sure to be the kick-off event of the year!
