To celebrate School Library Month, we have several cool things going on, and our theme is "We Are Book Dragons. Not Book Worms".

Elementary students will be working together to building a reading paper chain all the way down their hall, then they will turn the corner and try to make the chain reach all the way to the library! The links will have students' names and the titles of the books they read throughout April. If they make the chain stretch to the library, their last library class day in April will have some fun surprises.

Middle School students may complete the Book Dragon Reading Incentive sheet for fun prizes upon completion, and completed sheets serve as an entry to win a gift certificate to our upcoming BOGO Book Fair. Book Dragon sheets may be picked up in the library or downloaded for printing here.

The district is also celebrating School Library Month by asking students to submit bookmark art to their librarian by Friday, April 15. Final chosen art will be presented at the April School Board meeting. Students may pick up a bookmark template sheet in the library or download it for printing here. The bookmark theme is "My Library Connects Me to..."

Pershing's Middle School Battle of the Books team had a great time at Glendale this year, and they came in at fifth place. Glendale provided swag bags that included a book of the student's choice, and it was really cool to be able to do BoB in person this year!

Pershing's Elementary Battle of the Books team begins practicing the first week of April, and they will battle against other district elementary schools the week of May 2. Wish them luck!

The week of May 16 will be the second Book Fair of the school year, and it will be a Buy One, Get One fair. This fair falls at the very end of the year, so students can have access to books even though library checkouts are over for the year.
