The Democratic-Republicans believed that The states should retain their own debts;
States like Virginia who paid off their debts should not have to help more negligible states pay off their debts
Creation of a National Bank
They thought that the BUS ( The Bank of the United States) is unconstitutional & places too much power in the hands of the elite. in other word they did want the rich people to get any more power than what they already had.
French Revolution
the Democratic- Republicans believed that the U.S. should support France due to its
conviction to liberty & assistance during the American Revolution. They also supported the french overthrow of their king.
Power of the National Government
Thought that the states should hold more power to protect the yeoman farmers from potential tyrants. They wanted the federal power to be balanced with the state power and objected to the extension of the power of the central government.
Alien and Sedition Acts
The Alien and Sedition Acts were four bills that were passed by the Federalists in the 5th United States Congress and signed into law by President John Adams in 1798, in the aftermath of the French Revolution and during an undeclared naval war with France, later known as the Quasi-War. this act was created by the federalist to silence and weaken the democratic-republican party and to silence its newspaper. The democratic-republican responded by making a claim that the federalist were violating the constitution, they said that it was suppressing their freedom of press was unconstitutional.
