Ka 'Imi 'Ike
A Weekly Newsletter of the Leeward CC Education Program
Aloha!
Welcome (or welcome back for many of you) to the start of the Fall 2014 semester at Leeward Community College! I, along with your Fall 2014 Peer Mentors (see below), look forward to serving you this semester. One of the things we wanted to improve from last year was our regular communication with all of you. Ka 'Imi 'Ike, our new online weekly newsletter, aims to do just that. We will inform you of important academic deadlines (i.e. course add/drop deadlines, tuition payment deadlines, etc.), financial aid opportunities, service learning opportunities, professional development opportunities, and, of course, upcoming social events. We will also feature practical and timely advice from current students, faculty, staff, and even some alumni of the AAT program, that we hope you will find helpful as you complete your AAT degree.
In the words of the late Dr. Rita Pierson in her famous TED Talks debut, "We can do this. We're educators. We're born to make a difference!" Let's make this the best semester yet!

AAT Student Support Services is here to assist you in successfully completing your AAT Degree. At the heart of the program are six AAT Peer Mentors--all experienced, energetic college students, who have already successfully completed many of the classes that you may find you need assistance with. They can provide you with the information, encouragement and guidance you need to succeed. AAT Peer Mentors will keep you up-to-date on campus events, share their personal experiences and offer help and advice when appropriate. They are your point of contact to ask questions about college and will be a friendly face at social events. They all look forward to working with you!
