Fun in Grade One!
First Grade News for the Month of June
Here comes the SUN!
The first grade year is coming to a close soon. For many of you, that means the end of a two year journey with us. We have had a blast, and can't wait to see what the future has in store for our students.
In our last two weeks we will complete three end of year assessments.
1. 1st Grade Sight Word Check, and a goal of half of the 2nd Grade word list.
2. Math fact fluency- to be able to solve 25 facts from memory in 1 minute and 30 seconds.
3. An end of year cumulative math test- assessing all the math knowledge from first grade.
Please know that even though the school year is ending, learning is not. Review math and sight words every night- and continue working on these throughout the summer.
We have finished taking the Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA) and will be sending home information on your child's reading level and books to look into over the summer before the end of the year.
Thank you,
Ms. Ladd, Ms. Hill, Mrs. Campbell, Ms. Pitera, Ms. Parham, Ms. Porter, Ms. El-dada and Ms. Conyers-Jones
