Spring Semester - Schedule Modifications
The pandemic has brought on a wave of new challenges for students (and teachers) that have negatively impacted academic performance, such as technology barriers to virtual learning, social-emotional disruptors due to isolation, fear, and loss, and frequent transitions and changes to the academic environment due to the virus spread. Consequently, we feel it is imperative to respond to the needs of our students by creating school conditions that prioritize student learning and mental well-being.
Beginning the week of January 11, we will implement a block schedule (four 90-minute classes daily). A block schedule allows a student more time within the school day to complete academic work under structured, supportive supervision. Having longer, fewer classes daily sets a student up for more focused, thorough learning. Breaks can be built into the schedule to allow for physical movement and nourishment and a break from the screen. A longer lunch period provides opportunities for socialization, as well as tiered interventions so that all students receive the support they need to succeed in school.
We will continue to offer a remote-in option for students, with administrative approval.
PLEASE COMPLETE THIS FORM BY JANUARY 5th to indicate your student is requesting to remain remote for the 3rd Quarter.
