Morning Message
Happy Funny Friday,
It’s time for a little laugh today! See if you can remember this joke and make someone else laugh today! You could post it on your mailbox for a mailman, tape it to your front door for a delivery person, or even call a friend or family member.
Here goes:
Why is the mushroom always invited to parties?
Ready for the answer?
Because he is a fungi!
Literacy
Description of Work:
Today you can finish up your animal report. Check for spelling and spaces, labels and headings. Don’t forget to add a cover and a page about the author.
Go back to your Report and have a grown-up help you fix 3 things. Be sure to share with me so we can make a class Animal Book.
And as a special treat for all your hard research work - have fun making silly animals on the Switch Zoo website.

Word Work/Vocabulary
This week you will continue to work on sight words. You will also be learning about syllables and compound words. Watch the compound words video, to learn about compound words before you start those activities this week. Have fun.
Choose 1 choice each day this week from the list below to practice compound words and syllables. Youngers may want to start with the syllable practice and then try a challenge later in the week with compound words.

Sight Word Practice:
· Pick 5 new words each day this week and practice them (just like last week). There are new activities to choose from this week. Pick your words from your word wall chart or words your family wants you to practice. Choose a new way to practice each day:
· Make lego words
· Use magnetic letters
· Build them with twigs or lincoln logs
· Build them with playdough
· Use an easel to spell them
· Write your words with chalk outside
IT'S BRAIN BREAK TIME!!!
Math
Dear Mathematicians,
Today you will write another math story problem using a Make 10 fact. Can you use subtraction to solve it?
Here is another example: I ate 8 jellybeans. My mom said I could have 10 before dinner. How many more can I eat?
Your turn! See if someone in your family or your teacher can solve it! Have fun, and don’t forget to share some of your math work with your teacher :)
