Masks
We have had great success with students wearing masks throughout the day. We continue to remind students that the mask must be pulled up over his/her nose. Please reinforce proper mask wearing with your students at home as well. We appreciate the continued support in keeping our school safe and healthy.
Holiday Traditions from around the World
Students are invited to participate in a variety of spirit days to celebrate each culture we will be spotlighting. These spirit days will begin on Thursday December 9, 2021. Please know that all spirit days are optional for students and are meant to be fun and motivating. We encourage families to keep it simple and use the resources available at home.
Young Author's Contest is Here!
We are looking for 1st and 2nd Grade entries for short stories and/or poems. If your child is interested, the contest rules can be found here.
All entries must be submitted digitally by December 10th to Mrs. Bailey. Entries can be e-mailed to Sarah.Bailey@fcps.org.
All entries must have a cover sheet found here and signed by a parent. Entries will be judged the week of December 13th by a panel of MPS staff and winners will be announced and submitted from each grade level to move on to the county level for judging. If you have any questions, please e-mail Mrs. Bailey. Good luck to all!!!
Quarantine Connections
Teachers are posting activities weekly in Schoology. These activities are supplemental to what is being taught in the classroom.
Additionally, we offer virtual check in/tutoring sessions each week. Session days and times vary by grade level and can be found in your student's homeroom Schoology course (see sample 1st grade schedule below).
If your student participates in any virtual sessions and also accesses activities in Schoology, he/she can be marked present with a specific attendance code. Please note both virtual and Schoology participation must occur to be eligible for the "present COVID code".
Please continue to send a note to school if your child will be absent for any reason, including due to quarantine. Without a note, absences are coded as unexcused.
Artonsonia
This year MPS will continue to partner with Artsonia to create a secure online art gallery and portfolio for our student’s artwork here at MPS and MES. The portfolio of your child’s artwork can follow them from kindergarten through grade 12! Artsonia also allows parents, grandparents and family to view artwork online and offers opportunities to purchase items featuring your child’s artwork! Holiday gifts?!!
If you have participated in the past, you do not need to sign up again!
Feel free to email sarah.lucas@fcps.org with any questions you may have.
Please use the following link for additional information and direct links to sign up! Artsonia Sign up/ Information
This year we hope to hold an art show in the spring. We will be in need of volunteers for this event! Please be on the lookout in March for volunteer opportunities!
