A Message from Mrs. Booth...
Dear Silver Springs Students, Parents, and Staff,
All Silver Springs Elementary students, families, and staff are encouraged to use our breaks to REST, RELAX, and REJUVENATE. We believe that breaks should be a time to Sharpen the Saw, reconnect with our families, and enjoy some special “down time” with family and friends. Therefore all students AND staff will be free of academic-related work during the following dates:
Thanksgiving Break (Wednesday, November 28 - Sunday, December 1)
Winter Break (Saturday, December 21 - Sunday, January 5)
Mid-Winter Break (Saturday, February 15 - Tuesday, February 18)
Spring Break (Saturday, April 4 - Sunday, April 12)
On the return day from each respective break, there will be no homework, assignments, projects, or papers due and no quizzes or tests. We hope you and your family consider the upcoming Thanksgiving Break a chance to rest, relax, and return to school rejuvenated!
Please note, I am planning on following this same advice, as a result, there will be no Eagle Express next week due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. Please look for the next Eagle Express on Sunday, December 8. I hope each of you have a relaxing break full of family, fun and togetherness.
Sincerely,
Katie Booth
Principal

Please be sure to stop by the Lost & Found table located in the front hallway to look for your child's missing things! We have lots of gloves, hats, coats and miscellaneous items that would like to find their way home! All items will be donated the week after Thanksgiving break.

Grazie Grazie For The PTA Fall Conference Dinner
The Silver Springs PTA Hospitality would like to thank all the families who generously donated food and drinks for the Italian themed dinner on Wednesday. A special thanks for the delicious soups, salads, pasta dishes, and desserts! The teachers and staff truly enjoyed their dinner and had leftovers the next day. They were very appreciative and wanted you to know how much it meant to them. The PTA truly appreciates the generosity of our families who help us with these special events. GRAZIE!
Please look for a sign-up genius soon for the much anticipated Silver Springs Staff Holiday Cookie Exchange where we will ask for homemade cookies/goodies on December 19th.

Winter Gear Drive
It seems that winter has come early this year, and unfortunately we know that many people are in need of assistance in keeping warm this winter season. The Student Lighthouse Community Service Action team will be sponsoring a Winter Gear Drive collecting new winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and boots (any size) running from November 18th through December 13th. All items will be donated to Northville Civic Concern. Please consider picking up one of these items while you begin your holiday shopping. We are hoping that our Silver Springs Community can synergize to make this a successful project!

Would you like to see Mrs. Booth in the Elf Costume that you see in the picture?
I heard that if we meet our online school year earnings of $500, before the holiday break, that Mrs. Booth will dress up in THAT ELF COSTUME! We need to earn about $202 more to meet our bronze goal. That’s just over 2000 box tops. Each Box Top is worth .10 cents.
If we synergize and work hard for our school, I bet we could do it. I would love to see Mrs. Booth in an ELF COSTUME! So, what should we do?
We need to use the Box Tops app to scan our store receipt within 14 days of purchase. The app will automatically find the products and instantly add Box Tops to our school’s earnings online. No clipping required!
Download or update the BoxTops for Education app on a mobile device. If you see the new label, do not send it to school. Use the new Box Tops app to scan your receipt. The app will find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to your school’s earnings online!
Can we still turn in regular cut out Box Tops?
YES! Please continue to turn in cut out Box Tops! Our Box Top Coordinator will give us updates on our progress, so we will know how close we are to meeting our goal!
Sounds like a plan! Let’s do this!
Please see the attached directions for more information about how to use the Box Tops App.

Supporting the The 7 Habits at home!
7 Habits at Home Activity for November
This month’s Habit: Habit 1 Be Proactive
Activity: Circle of Control
Due Date: November 27th
Habit 1 – Be Proactive – “I’m in Charge of Me”
What this means: Take charge of your own life. Make it happen. Don't wait for someone else to do it.
“I am responsible for me.”
“I do the right thing before I am asked.”
“I do the right thing even when no one is looking.”
“I do not blame others for my actions.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. If you do something wrong, say you are sorry before someone asks you to apologize.
2. When you get mad and want to say something, stop, think, and ask yourself-
Why am I getting so angry? Make a good choice in a good way.
Great Books for Habit #1- Be Proactive
- The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds
- Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst
- Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo
- The Little Engine that Could by Watty Piper
- Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman
- Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun by Maria Dismondy
