Note from Dr. Bartlett re: Cell Phone Use by Students
While many of our teachers allow electronics or cell phones as they relate to instruction and/or free time, it is always inappropriate for students to engage in texting during the instructional portions of the day. I have found that children typically feel that they must respond to messages (especially parent messages) immediately. A conversation to have at home might be the example of how adults do not text or get on their phones during important work meetings. School is the practice ground for these critical life skills for our children. We will expect students to keep their phones in their backpacks unless their teacher has given them permission to have it out, and we will appreciate you coming to school to pick it up if it becomes a problem.
If you need to get a message to your child during the day, please call the front desk at 936-276-4500, email your child's teacher, or use the transportation email link (lonestartransit@misd.org), which goes to several office staff members.
I appreciate your help in protecting the instructional day. If you must send a message and the above methods will not work for you at that time, you may text my cell phone at 281-543-5135. Please go ahead and save it in your contact list. I am happy to partner with you should you need immediate attention.
Thank you so much,
Catherine Bartlett

Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind
If you don't make a conscious effort to visualize who you are and what you want in life, then you empower other people and circumstances to shape you and your life by default. It's about connecting again with your own uniqueness and then defining the personal, moral, and ethical guidelines within which you can most happily express and fulfill yourself. Begin with the End in Mind means to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen.
