6th Grade AIG Lion Team
Week of September 21-25
Math Class
The students finished the NS.4 (Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple) and started NS.2 (Long Division) and NS.3 (Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, and Dividing Decimals). They wrote notes in their journals and learned how to add, subtract, and multiply decimals correctly. Mrs. Greene's math classes practiced using a menu and finding subtotal, tax, grand totals and tip! If you go out to eat this weekend, let your child figure that out for you! Next week we begin learning how to divide decimals by decimals.
Science Class
This week we started our next unit in science on photosynthesis, respiration, and transpiration. We dissected our vocabulary words into their stems to better understand our vocabulary words and made funny comics to help remember the meanings. Today, we worked on our Genius Hour projects and continued to work toward our goal of solving a problem around our school that matters to us.
Reading Class
The students did Blendspace rotations for 20 mins. with 4 rotations daily. The rotations were; Read to self, Stem Packet, IXL A.1-A.5 (comma's), and studies weekly. We have also started to Skype Mrs. Kistler third grade class. Please remember to remind your students that the Flocabulary Packet for week 4 is due on Monday.
Curriculum Night
We had a great night on Thursday, we had many families come to curriculum night. If you could not attend, please ask your child for a packet that will explain what you missed.
