COORDINATOR'S CORNER

This is a spring of change here at AEA Lakewood. Most of you know we said goodbye to Miss Baltas and wished her luck on the next step of her journey. I took over as Building Coordinator while still continuing to teach Spanish and High School Readiness 1. Ms. Dillon, our Intervention Specialist, has added Dean of Students to her responsibilities. And we are very excited to welcome Mr. Jarrod Haught as our new Social Studies teacher on Monday, March 13. (We'll introduce him in the next newsletter.)

And in the midst of all the changes and growth, our students are as resilient as ever. Each day I am amazed at their maturity, compassion, dedication, and resilience. As we approach the last quarter of our year, our staff will continue to support the students moving forward toward their goals. There is much work to still be done, but we also have lots of fun and celebration coming up. We can't wait to see where the future will lead us.

ACT - TUESDAY, MARCH 14

All Juniors will be taking the ACT on Tuesday, March 14. Juniors MUST arrive to school by 8:30a as we will begin the test at 8:45a. Any Juniors arriving after we begin testing will follow their regular class schedule but may be the only student in their classes. They would then take the ACT on district make-up day.

Students should bring snacks and water for the break times. NOTHING is allowed in the testing space with them except for a pencil. Snacks and drinks are to be left outside the testing room. Electronics such as phones, iPads, watches, etc. will be left outside the testing space.

The test will last approximately 3.5 hours with bathroom breaks. After the test, around 12:30pm, students who tested will be dismissed for the day. Students are welcome to stay and finish their normal daily schedule but they are also welcome to go home. Caregivers, please let us know what you expect for your student. If students stay for the remainder of the day, they will have a lunch period after testing (approximately 12:30-1:20pm).

FEBRUARY 2023 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

We congratulate Mr. Fulton Hardy on being the AEA Lakewood Employee of the Month. Mr. Hardy is the first and last face most of us see at AEA Lakewood. As our school Security Officer and official Keeper of the Bathroom List, Mr. Hardy always has his finger on the pulse of our school. Thank you for all you do and CONGRATULATIONS!!

Ohio State Tests

Ohio State Testing (OST) season is just around the corner. Students in grades 7-11 will be testing at the end of March and April. Students and teachers are diligently preparing.
