COVID-19 Updates
UPDATE! TRAVEL QUARANTINE REQUIREMENT
As we have stated since August, we are requiring students to self-quarantine for 14 days after visiting states that have a 15% or more COVID-19 positivity rate.
As of March 10, Ohio no longer publishes the list or map of travel advisory states. The following links may be of help to you in determining whether your travel plans involve a state that has a 15% or more COVID-19 positivity rate:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/travel-during-covid19.html
https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#testing_positivity7day
Please also see the COVID-19 Travel Advisory FAQs below.
This is an extra precaution and we know this could impact travel plans. If your children are learning in-person, we are asking you to respect this decision and plan accordingly. Students who are required to quarantine after traveling to a state (or country) with a 15% or higher COVID-19 positivity rate will be required to distance learn for the 14 days.
NO REMOTE LEARNING WEEK FOLLOWING SPRING BREAK
TRAVEL QUARANTINES REMAIN IN EFFECT
As COVID-19 conditions continue to improve, the medical professionals advising us have indicated that it will not be necessary to move to remote learning the week after our Spring Break. However, for those planning to travel, please note that our two-week quarantine requirement remains in effect for travel out of the country or to a state with 15% or greater positivity. Please see additional travel quarantine information below. Students quarantining for this reason will be distance learners until their quarantine period expires. In order to help our teachers adequately prepare for students who will be distance learning while in quarantine following travel, please let your child's teacher know by March 17 if your child will be traveling to an area that will require him or her to quarantine. Students whose families opt to extend travel beyond spring break will need to report the absence to the school office and arrange to make up missed work upon return to school.
COVID-19 DASHBOARD
We have added a COVID-19 Dashboard to our school website to report up-to-the-minute positive case data for students and staff members. Click here for our COVID-19 Dashboard.

Revere Schools are closed for Spring Break this week, so there will be no Revere bus for St. Hilary students.

BAGS NEEDED FOR BLESSINGS IN A BACKPACK
With Akron Public Schools students back in their classrooms, our Blessings in a Backpack program is again in full swing providing take-home bags of food for students for the weekends. Please send your extra plastic grocery bags to school to help support this effort. Students may place bags in the storage benches outside the school office. Thank you!

URGENT NEED!
MENTORS NEEDED FOR NEW FAMILIES BY MARCH 31
Volunteer mentors are needed to help welcome families who will be new to our school in the 2021-2022 school year. Mentors will be assigned a few families to contact late this spring and again before school begins. Mentors also need to be available for their assigned new families to contact with questions throughout the school year. The commitment is small, but the impact on making new families feel welcome is great! If you are willing to help mentor new families beginning in May and through the 2021-2022 school year, please email Debbie Sinopoli at dsinopoli@st-hilary.org by March 31. Thank you!
CYO SPORTS PICTURE COORDINATOR NEEDED
We are seeking a St. Hilary parent to coordinate the CYO Sports pictures that are taken for the St. Hilary yearbook. This person would work with Lifetouch, the Athletic Director, and the St. Hilary Facilities Scheduler to have pictures taken in the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons. It would be best if we could find someone now to shadow for the Spring season. If interested, please contact Marlinda Bonus at pab53170@aol.com.

NEXT SCHOOL MASS APRIL 16
Our next school Mass will be April 16 at 9:30 a.m. This school Mass will be planned by grade 1, and will be live streamed and available to view at http://sthilarychurch.org/live/.
**PLEASE NOTE: Our live page has been updated. School Masses are available for viewing on the Watch Live Mass page. You will simply see a window on the page - not a link. Other events will still be viewed live by clicking a link as you have in the past.
This year’s liturgy schedule can be found in the Forms and Documents section under the Red Folder on the school website. Masses are also posted on the school Google calendar, with the grade level planning the Mass listed. Upcoming school Masses are April 23 planned by grade 5, and April 30 planned by grade 7. There is no school on April 2 and April 9.
We will continue to celebrate Mass together each week and on holy days. Each grade level (1-8) will plan several Masses as usual, but only the grade level planning the Mass will attend in person. Parents and grandparents of participants may attend but must sit in the back of the Church away from students. Masses will be live streamed and available for all to watch, and students not attending Mass in person will watch live streamed Mass from their classrooms. Eucharistic ministers will come to the classrooms to distribute Holy Communion. We will handle other religious services and events in a similar way.

DON'T FORGET TO SEND WATER BOTTLES WITH STUDENTS EACH DAY!

Students need to bring a water bottle (or more than one if need be) to school each day, especially as the weather begins to get warmer. We do have "emergency" water bottles for students in the rare event they forget one, but we do not have enough to provide water on a routine basis. Your cooperation is appreciated!
