Important Info:

7th Grade Device Collection

We will be collecting all 7th grade student Chromebooks and chargers on Wednesday, May 24.

It is very important that your student bring his/her device and charger to school that day.

Your student will be reissued another Chromebook and charger in August.

Important Yearbook Information!

This year we will be distributing pre-ordered yearbooks on Wednesday, May 24th. There is a list posted outside Mrs. Speelman’s Art room that shows every student who pre-ordered a yearbook. Please ask your student to check that list.

If your students name is on that list he/she will receive a yearbook on May 24th during 1st bell. If your students name is NOT on the list and you would like to purchase a yearbook there will be a limited number of overrun books available. Please send cash or a check (written to “Sycamore Jr. High”) in the amount of $40 to Mrs. Melissa Speelman. I will add them to the list and they will receive their books on May 24th as well. If we still have yearbooks remaining, we will set up a table at lunch on Thursday, May 25th- the last day of school, for students to purchase with cash or check.

We will be making multiple announcements at school to remind students. With the distribution or yearbooks occurring on the second to last day of school, we’d like any issues to be cleared up as soon as possible. If you feel an error has occurred with your order please notify me, Mrs. Melissa Speelman, at your earliest convenience- Thanks so much!!

8th Grade Day- Wed. May 24, 2017

Our annual 8th Grade Day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 24, 2017. The 8th grade students and staff will leave school at approximately 9:40am for a fun day at the Blue Ash Recreation Center. Students will return at approximately 2:00pm and be released at the regular dismissal time of 3:07pm.

The 8th grade panoramic picture will be taken when the students return to school. The cost for this 10” x 30” picture is $29.50, which includes $7.50 for shipping and handling. This photo is pre-pay only and the order ID number is JC816125T0.

When ordering pleased include mailing address. This photo will be shipped to the home address.

Several activities are planned for this exciting day!!

  • Swimming

  • DJ

  • Photo Station

  • Inflatables

  • Games

  • Morning snack will be provided once we arrived @ 9:45am

  • Lunch will be provided @ 11:30am - hamburger or turkey hot dog, fresh fruit, vegetable/relish tray, chips, cookie, and a water bottle. Students may bring a packed lunch if desired, however, there is no refrigeration available. Since items will not be available to purchase while we are there, students should not bring money.

Having fun and creating positive memories are the two main objectives for this day; therefore it is worth noting that school rules are still in effect to maintain order and safety. In order to have the privilege of attending this event, students must be in good academic and behavioral standing.

Expectations were discussed on video announcements on April 24, 2017, which are as follows:

  • Maintain passing grades in your classes. Students with multiple failures for 4th quarter will not be permitted to attend.

  • Attend school. Students with excessive absences/tardies to school 4th quarter will not be permitted to attend.

  • Follow direction from adults. Students that are chronically noncompliant will not be permitted to attend.

  • Demonstrate respect towards others. Students that are rude or disrespectful towards others or property will not be permitted to attend.

  • Be a leader. Model excellence. Students that continue to violate the code of conduct or demonstrate behaviors that are not outstanding examples of what a SJH student exemplifies will not be permitted to attend.

  • Students should be in good standing with the media center, having returned all books and paid overdue fines.

This is truly an exciting, fun-filled day for the students! If you have any questions regarding the day, please feel free to call me at 686-1760.

Staff Member of the Week- Mrs. Traci Knue

The staff member of this week is Mrs. Traci Knue. Mrs. Knue previously worked at Blue Ash Elementary as an educational assistant. For the past three years, however, she has been a welcome desk attendant and a secretary at Sycamore Junior High. Outside of school, she enjoys hanging out with her kids and her family, as well as camping and coaching the Blue Ash Rec Center’s swim team. An interesting fact about Mrs. Knue that most people do not know is that she was a cosmetologist and hairstylist before she came to Sycamore. Because Mrs. Knue welcomes visitors to our school with a bright smile each day, Student Council would like to award Mrs. Knue the Staff Member of the Week award!

Congratulatulations, Mrs. Knue!!!
