Message From Joel

Dear Chugach Families,


In this final Scoop of the year, I would like to share with you how honored I am to be the principal of this wonderful school. The students, parents, and staff here are phenomenal and have helped to make my first year here an overwhelmingly positive experience. As we wind up this year and begin looking forward to our 50th anniversary year, I would like to reassure families of a couple of things:


  • The plan is for our 6th graders to stay here at Chugach.
  • We still expect to have our current schedule of M-F 8:10-2:50 and our early release Fridays.


Once again, thank you for welcoming me into the Chugach family this year, and I look forward to seeing all of you (and our new incoming families) in August.

May 23 - Last day of school for students

May 24 - Last day of school for teachers

July 15 - Pre-enrollment for Kindergartners and New to ASD students opens online

July 21- Summer Lottery Closes for Applications @ 5:00 pm

July 24 - Chugach Office opens for 2023-2024

July 25 - Summer Lottery Runs

July 28- Parent Notifications of summer lottery results @ 5:00pm

August 15 - Chugach Back to School Night (5:30pm on Playground)

August 17 - First Day of 2023-2024 School Year for 1st-6th grade

August 24 - First Day of Kindergarten

Online Registration

Online Registration for the 2023-2024 school year is now open for returning ASD students! So far we have 125 Chugach students with completed registration for next year. If you know your student will be returning to our school, please register them for the coming school year as soon as possible. Getting registration done before the summer is important to our school in terms of retaining our teachers and fund levels. To register, go into your Parent Connect account. There will be a link to register your student under the "ASD Quick Links" tab.

School Start Time Update

Currently, we are still anticipating that the school schedule for Chugach Optional will remain the same as it was this year. We will continue with our 8:10am to 2:50pm schedule Monday through Friday with 14 Release Fridays spread throughout the year.

Tentative Early Release Fridays for 2023-2024

Chugach Optional has 14 “Early Release” Fridays throughout the year. On these days, students are dismissed at 11:15am. The tentative Early Release Fridays for the 2023-2024 School Year are listed below. If these dates change over the summer we will update families in August.

Our Lost & Found Tables are overflowing and seem to be growing daily! PLEASE, please take a moment to look at the items on the tables in the front hallway. We have many items that have been misplaced or left out on the playground. There are a bunch of winter jackets, hoodies, gloves, a few pairs of boots and some lunch boxes. All unclaimed items will be donated to good will on Wednesday, May 25th.
