Week 28 for Families and Community March 6-10, 2023
Spring is Definitely in the Air!
Dear Altadena Eliot Arts Families,
Well March Madness is certainly upon us! The students are getting excited and with the random, swift snowfall on Wednesday there is a palpable energy on both campuses.
Tuesday, our students participated in the African American History Bee online! Big thank yous go to our coaches and student participants!
At the elementary site we celebrated Read Across America Week with special guest readers and a Family Reading Night on Thursday. It was a wonderful and fun event. Big thanks to Ms. Major for organizing this wonderful annual event!
Friday we were notified that Altadena Eliot Arts Magnet received a $10,000.00 grant from the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts toward our K-8 musical theatre collaboration production of Peter Pan!!! We are so grateful for the generosity of this amazing organization!
Friday night our students participated in the Secondary Music Festival and of course they made us #PUSDProud!
Saturday, join us at the home of one of our families to learn more about hosting a French intern! This is going to be a fun late afternoon gathering where we will discuss the experiences and expectations for those who choose to host a French intern. This is open to ALL parents and community members to gain valuable information. Please see the flyer below and email davidbridel@me.com to RSVP!
Parents, please remember our drop off and pick up procedures at both sites.
- Elementary parents, please do not hold up the valet line and be safe and courteous as you move through the carline.
- Middle School parents, we receive and bid farewell to students on Boston only!!! The only students who enter on Calaveras are those who ride our special education buses. Students are not permitted to enter through the main doors on Lake Avenue unless they are tardy.
Speaking of tardies, we are seeing a lot of students be very tardy to school lately. Elementary students must be in the cafeteria by 7:50 am and middle school students need to be seated in their first period classrooms by 8:15 am.
We have another wonderful week ahead:
- Elementary School Tour on Thursday at 9:00 am in the Parent Room.
- Friday we have our Cougar Values Awards Assembly at 7:50 am in the Cafeteria. Teachers will notify parents if their child is receiving an award.
- Friday night is the opening of No Boundaries Art Show!!! 6 pm at Paseo Colorado
- Saturday join us for French Intern Information Night at 4 pm
Save the Dates:
- March 30 - Altadena Eliot Arts Annual GALA Celebration in support of the middle school Annual Fund

Huskies!
Hope everyone has stayed warm this past week, and I truly hope that all students were at school, Wednesday the 1st, when it SNOWED on campus! What a sight!
Well, we had our Restaurant Night at Dominico's Pizza this week. When I got my pizza, I thanked them for giving us the night and was told sales were good. Go Huskies!
Saturday March 11 is our Drive-by Drop-off at Eliot for the Shoe Fundraiser. The fundraiser is over on March 17th, so let's go after everyone we know with feet, and get those shoes!
PTSA is getting it together for our big event in April. We will be needing all the help we can get, so stay tuned.
Finally, PTSA gave our donation for the Spring Musical. Dr. Scheckel's response was "We Can Fly!"
