Falcon Newsflash

Give Thanks
We had an absolutely AMAZING week at the LAKE! Our Falcons closed the week by welcoming and honoring some of our greatest Americans. We were blessed to have the opportunity to say THANK YOU to the men and women connected to our community who have sacrificed and fought to protect the many freedoms we are privileged to live.
We also celebrated some of the most important employees in education - our amazing substitutes! Friday was Substitute Appreciation Day. Our STUCO helped to thank the substiutes on campus with a Thank You gift and and a "sub" lunch from our local Subway restaurant. We literally could not do it without them!
Our Falcon students and faculty also want to say THANK YOU to the entire community to voting FOR their futures. Your votes have reinforced our community commitment to ensuring that CCISD can continue to provide an exceptional quality education that meets the needs of every student without having to sacrifice programs and resources. This is a direly unprecedented financial time for public education in the state of Texas, but the CCISD community stands behind our students. We thank you for your trusting our shared devotion to your kids.
This week, we will focus on our Core Values and our students' futures. This week is Character Education Week and Generation Texas Week. Our advisory lesson on Tuesday will focus on caring as we discuss mental health and suicide prevention (see segment below). On Thursday, we will focus on respect and highlight our students who endeavor to be college-bound, and we encourage all Falcons to wear a college shirt to celebrate their future plans. On Friday, our focus will be on responsibility as we practice all our safety drills and reinforce our responsibilities to ourselves, our peers, and our campus in the event of and to prevent emergencies.
The following week, we get to all take a well-deserved Fall break and focus on family and gratefulness. We will also take a break from our weekly Newsflash until Sunday 11/26. I wish you all a peaceful and restful Thanksgiving spent with those who mean the most to you.
It's going to be a GREAT week at the LAKE!
Elizabeth Raska

Advisory Lesson
CCISD requires our counseling department to provide Advisory material on certain topics each year. Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention are two subject areas we believe are needed to help guide our students. On Tuesday (11/14), the Advisory lesson will increase awareness and provide resources for getting help if they or someone they know is needing help. We hope that by sharing this information with our students, we can continue supporting their experience while here at CLHS.
Generation TX Week
Generation Texas Week is Nov. 13- 17
This is the week we will be highlighting our college-going culture at Clear Lake High School. For many, college is the best investment they will make in themselves. No matter your challenges, college can be a reality. Your future is worth it.
Resources for helping you choose a college
Every student in Clear Lake High School has a Naviance account. There are many features in Naviance to help navigate the process of exploring careers and colleges. There is career testing, personality testing related to work, and learning styles testing. These tests can help our students make a decision based on three basic principles: Know yourself; know your options; and make a good decision.
The college researching tools in Naviance are extensive. There are college search features, college matching features, scattergrams, and acceptance history. Using these tools can help students make an informed college choice.
We also have college representatives who come to campus every week to share information with our students about their college campuses.
On Thursday, Nov 16, wear your college shirt day!
Check out these checklists for each grade level:

Anonymous Alerts
CCISD continues to implement and improve upon our anonymous system for reporting safety concerns. These concerns can include safety violations on campus, threats, harassment, bullying and self-harm. Because Clear Lake High School's safety is dependent upon every member of our community, if you see or hear of something that concerns you, we ask you tell a trusted adult so they can report it or submit your concern using the Anonymous Alert system.
When submitting concerns, please make sure that you report all information (names, description, location, time, etc.) in order to help with a quick response. We investigate every tip submitted.
For expeditious reporting, we ask that parents and students load the app on your phones (QR codes below). Reports can be made anonymously by using the blue button link below. QR codes for reporting are also posted year-round on the rotating announcement TVs in the hallways on campus.
