Today we say farewell to our awesome Year 6 cohort - this is a tough one for one for the staff. They have been an amazing group, an even as I write this, they are out cooking sausages for the classrooms - tu meke, whanau! A big thanks to everyone who came to the Year 6 leavers evening - what a great night! To those families leaving us for the last time - 'manaaki whenua, manaaki tangata, Haere whakamua', remember to stop in for a coffee whenever you go past!
2023 Classes / Stationery
Along with last weeks achievement reports, you would have received a stationery list for your child for next year. Your support in ensuring children have the correct books and equipment for the first day of school next year is appreciated. Stationery lists will be published on Skool Loop and Facebook in case you happen to misplace the paper copy during the holidays. These will be on there soon.
2023
We are looking forward to 2023 - see the dates above. We will send out a link in mid January to book in for a 'Mahi tahi meeting' with each teacher. We begin the year on the 31st January.

A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Kia ora Vogeltown School whanau,
2022 nearly over? Where did THAT year go?! I’m sure you’ll all be eager for the summer break – a chance to spend some quality time together. Not long to go and we’ll be getting sand between the toes and a chance to take a breath!
It’s always busy at Vogeltown School and 2022 has been no different. Reflecting on the year, we’ve achieved a great deal in all areas. Your newly elected Board has hit the ground running with enviable complementary skills to support efficiency and continued improvement. We will be continuing our focus on a traditional, values based rounded education for your children – facilitating this is the core priority for your Board.
A great deal of work goes on both in and outside the classroom, before, during and after the regular school day to ensure our Vogeltowners are getting the very best educational experience it is possible to provide. For that the Board are hugely grateful to Mr Ogle and his dedicated team for delivering a unique and very personal level of learning for our community. The recently released ERO report reflects this and verifies the school is getting it right, with exemplary feedback in all aspects. For me, the recent all-school production personifies everything that makes Vogeltown such a special and inclusive place. It was a memorable experience to see the entire cohort up on stage delivering ‘our’ story.
2022 has seen continued improvements to property on both sides of the road. The upgrades to infrastructure and modernisation of teaching spaces has resulted in a distinct improvement to the classroom experience. The completion of the Senior deck rounds out what was an aspirational ‘Project Jupiter’ and sets the school up superbly for future generations. Having commissioned the new junior classroom(s) this year, we’re pleased to have property take a back seat for a while!
We sadly we bid farewell to Caroline Irving and TA Anna Du Plessis this year – though we’ll have Caroline back for a day a week. Thank you both for your dedication to Vogeltown over the years. In 2023 Mr Ransfield is back full time (was he ever away?!) and we welcome Cam Hedley and Matt Goodwin to the teaching team.
Thank you to our Year 6 families! We wish you all well in your new schools as you ‘Go Forward’ representing Vogeltown. Thank you for your contribution to Vogeltown.
Have a truly special summer together with your families – make some great memories. Happy Christmas and best wishes from the Board and we look forward to a successful 2023!
Meri Kirihimete,
Mike Miners and the Board of Trustees
