PACE Program Referral Information

PACE provides services for academically gifted and/or talented students in grades K-12 who have demonstrated the need for advanced, differentiated instruction. Students may be referred for the gifted program by teachers, parents, principals, counselors, or by the students themselves.

Referral packets need to be completed and returned to the gifted specialist at your child’s school by December 9, 2015 for program consideration . More information, including referral packets, can be found at: http://www.pisd.edu/parents/advanced.academics/gifted.pace/index.shtml. If you have any questions please contact PACE teacher, Kim Madden at kim.madden@pisd.edu or 469-752-2660.

Mendenhall Book Fair

Mendenhall will have our first book fair of the year November 16-20. The book fair will be open each day from 9-11 and 12-2. In addition, the book fair will be open Thursday evening from 6:00pm - 7:30pm for families to shop. This is a great, cost effective way for students to purchase books for reading at home.

Canned Food Drive

We will be holding a canned food drive November 16th - December 2nd. Please help other Plano families in need this holiday season. We will gladly accept any canned item such as soup, chili, vegetables, fruits, and tuna. Boxed macaroni & cheese or pasta would be great, too! Students can place items in the donation bins in their grade level.

Picture Retake Day

Fall individual picture retakes are scheduled for Friday, November 20th. Students who were absent on picture day (Thursday, October 15th), newly enrolled students to Mendenhall, or students who would like to take a second picture will be photographed Friday morning. Picture packages that were purchased will need to be returned if you are requesting a retake. Dress up and bring your best smile!

Box Tops

Our Mendenhall PTA is collecting box tops. This is a fast and easy way to make money for our school. Please cut out the box tops from the packaging of foods or items that you purchase and send them to school with your child. Our teachers will be happy to collect these for each grade level. The more we collect, the more we earn. Send your box tops in today!!

STEM Expo

Mendenhall Families are invited to the STEM Expo on Thursday, November 19th from 6:00 - 7:00pm to see students demonstrate their ideas in an exposition on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students have been hard at work on their projects. This will be a great event you will not want to miss! Additional information is included in the flyer below.
