What Is Biology?
Biology is a natural science concerned with the study of life and living organisms, including their structure, function, growth, evolution, distribution, and taxonomy.
What role does biology play in society?
Keep in mind that there are many different types of biology specialties - e.g. Ethology, evolutionary biology, physiology, genetics, molecular biology, morphology, ecology, zoology, microbiology, botany, etc. Each field has contributed to mankind or the Earth’s well-being in numerous ways.
Zoology
Zoology is the branch of biology that relates to the animal kingdom, including the structure, embryology, evolution, classification, habits, and distribution of all animals, both living and extinct.
Botany
Botany is the scientific study of plants. "Plants," to most people, means a wide range of living organisms from the smallest bacteria to the largest living things
Microbiology
Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms, such as bacteria, viruses, archaea, fungi and protozoa.
