Christmas Cookie Drive

I would like to thank all of the volunteers who delivered cookies, picked up cookies and packed cookies. Without you this would be an impossible task. It brings so much joy to our clients and you always make it the "Sweetest":) I would also like to thank all of the special culinary teachers and students who donated over 200 dozen cookies. The schools are:

St. Paul's, St. Mike's, Holy Cross, St. Francis and Denis Morris Catholic Schools and St. Catharines Collegiate High School. Westmount Elementary School, Grade 1Class and the Phi Beta Kappa Sorority and their Chapters also donated many delicious home made cookies. This year Niagara College was unable to help so local businesses helped us out, they saved Christmas for me. Rise Above Restaurant, Beechwood Doughnuts, Buns Master Bakery and Helen's Deli and Bakery. When you are thinking of going out to eat or purchasing baked goods please keep these generous Community Partners in mind. They deserve our business and our thanks.

St. Paul's Students with teacher Vincenza Smith!! Always beautiful cookies :)

Thorold Volunteers are like Family

This is Anderson St. Vallee and his beautiful baby girl Miah. In April Anderson will be celebrating 5yrs. of delivering for Meals on Wheels in Thorold and Miah has been delivering with him for as long as she has been born :) Anderson does the Rural Route twice a month and when Miah is not busy she helps her dad. We can't wait until she gets her driver's licence. We hope you get everything you want for Christmas Miah. See you in the New Year.

Team Leader/Driver/Adventurer

Travel with a purpose: one of our volunteers, Anne-Marie Power, recently spent 2 weeks in rural Uganda working with the British Columbia-based mission group known as His Hope Uganda. The group builds simple houses and latrines for the families in most need of the sponsored children in the villages outside the city of Jinja. The mission’s primary focus is on education and health. Those who sponsor the mission pay the school fees for around 150 children, and HHU funds an outreach program for the children’s hospital in the city. Anne-Marie’s son Doug, a resident of BC, has been active in Uganda with HHU for the past several years, in both the funding and the actual construction of the buildings.
