Stress on the Rise
A recent study from the Stanford School of Medicine indicates that the number of children ages 13-17, treated for depression has more than doubled between 1995 and 2001.
Dear Overwhelmed highschool student,
Life can be stressful during these years of highschool. It is important to recognize the causes (some stress is just natural) and take steps to deal with the root of the problem. Make sure you have someone you can trust so that you can vent to and confide in. We all deal with stress differently so there is no "one-size fits all" solution. Don't cope with stress in unhealthy ways such as drugs or drinking. You can manage stress in many ways like exercising, surrounding yourself with positive people and avoiding unnecessary stress by taking perspective in the situation. Will it matter in the long run?
