π» Weekly Update!
Hello Families!
We hope that you have been able to stay warm this week!
As sent out last week, all subsequent school cancellations will be AMI days. See "Winter Weather Information" below for additional information.
There are quite a few upcoming events and opportunities. Be sure to check those out below.
Best regards,
- Mrs. Miller & Mrs. VanDenover
βοΈ Winter Weather Information
For future school cancellations, we will implement our Inclement Weather Virtual Learning Days or AMI (Alternative Methods of Instruction). In the event of school cancellation or delay, we will get that information to you as early as possible through automated phone calls and text messages, our District website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, the District Hotline (816-858-2752), and local media. The message will identify what type of Inclement Weather Plan we will be implementing:
- Plan A (No School and No Remote Learning)
- Plan B (No School, No Y-Club, No Remote Learning)
- Plan C (Two-Hour Delayed Start) - Click here for more information
- Plan D (Inclement Weather Virtual Learning Day) - Click here for more information
β Expectations Reteach Calendar
After the return from Winter Break, classrooms have been working reteaching expectations and routines within the school. They have been focusing on all areas within the school including: all classrooms, hallways, restrooms, lunchrooms, playground, etc. Classes are working toward building a snowman as they complete the reteach in each area. We know that clearly defined school wide expectations pave the way for student success. Ask your student how their class is doing in building their snowman!
β Pirate Crew
Pathfinder Elementary is thrilled to welcome building-wide volunteers for the upcoming Spring 2023 semester! In addition to individual classroom volunteer opportunities offered by teachers, Pathfinder is extending half-day volunteer options to trusted adults in students' lives, such as parents, grandparents, uncles, or aunts. Those who enroll for these building-wide opportunities will offer valuable support in their child's classroom, other classrooms within the same grade level, Specials, Lunch, and Recess, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM on the specified days listed below.
Please utilize this page to sign up for a specific day. It's essential to bear in mind that all volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and verified contacts on a student's PowerSchool portal. Additionally, we kindly request that volunteers limit volunteering to one day this Spring, ensuring opportunities for a diverse range of families to participate.
Dates will be continually added as we progress through the semester, assess capacity, and finalize state testing dates. We appreciate your enthusiasm for supporting our Pathfinder students and staff!
β¨ Sports Stacking Sets For Purchase
Sport Stacking is an exciting sport where students stack and unstack 12-specially designed cups (Speed Stacks). Students use both sides of their bodies and brains, helping to develop ambidexterity, hand-eye coordination, and important athletic and academic skills. Coach Wilson currently has Speed Stacks Sets and StackMats for students to purchase here at the school with an added benefit of raising funds for our PE program. Click here to read more about this exciting opportunity!

π Meet Mrs. Christine VanDenover (Long-Term Substitute Principal)
Hello, my name is Christine VanDenover and I am very excited to be included as a member of the Pathfinder Elementary team! I have worked in education for over twenty years. Many of those years I worked as a classroom teacher. I have taught every grade level from Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade. The last 15 months I have been a part of the district level cabinet as the director of Human Resources. I was responsible for all hiring practices, workerβs compensation claims, new teacher induction programs and credentialing, classified employee orientation, and supporting site administrators in the evaluation of staff. When I am not taking on new work challenges, I am always looking for something new to learn. I have a large collection of audible titles that include murder mysteries, historical fiction, and educational leadership! I also love crafting, baking, traveling and spending time with my family. I am a servant leader at heart and I am looking forward to serving the Pathfinder community as a part of this team. I can't wait to meet you all! Christine can be reached at vandenoc@platteco.k12.mo.us.

ποΈ 2023-24 Parent Calendar
π± Text Notifications
A district communication medium is our School Messenger system that we use for phone calls and text notifications. As with any school district, PCR-3 must often contact hundreds of parents quickly for sudden changes in schedules due to emergencies, cancellation, or just important announcements.
If you have provided a cell phone number, parents can opt in to receive text alerts and messages. Simply text "YES" to 67587 (standard text messaging fees apply). New families should have received an opt-in text this week.
π¬ Keep in Contact with Us!
You can always pick up the phone and give us a call anytime. The school number is 816.436.6670. If you have a specific question for administration, please email us at bohna@platteco.k12.mo.us (Dr. Anna Bohn, Principal) or millere@platteco.k12.mo.us (Mrs. Emily Miller, Assistant Principal).
Thank you to our Pirates R.O.C.K. Stars!
