Principal's Notes from Mr. Sheets
In this newsletter you will find information about the first day of school procedures, the Sioux Falls School District's Healthy Foods Guide, the Specials rotation, and... The information previously sent regarding the Daily Health Screening Sheet and Face Coverings. These are all included as attachments at the end of our newsletter. We hope this information will help us get the school year off to a smooth and successful start.
We know parents also enjoying having lunch with their child. Adults may order school lunch and will need to bring exact change to pay for their meal (Adult Breakfast = $2.50; Adult Lunch = $4.35). Commercial "fast food" should not be brought in. Parents are always welcome to check their child out to go to lunch during the child's lunch period. To help our students develop their lunch routines, we would request that parents wishing to eat school lunch with their child please wait until October 1st.
Our school vision is "We know the most important adults in a child’s life - parents, guardians, grandparents, etc. - are their first teachers. As your child’s first teacher, we want to partner with you in educating and preparing your student for success in an ever- changing world." It is important for us to foster positive relationships with the adults in our students' lives. Our goal is to work with you as a team to help you child find success at the highest levels. If you ever have questions or concerns, please give us a call at 367-4560. We look forward to working with you this year.

First Day of School ~ Drop off & Pick Up Procedures
- Drop off
- If your child eats breakfast, they should enter Door A on Dakota Avenue. Breakfast service begins at 7:30 A.M.
- Supervision will begin on the playground at 7:40 A.M., and we ask that students are not dropped off before that time if they are not eating breakfast.
- Students will enter the building and go to their classrooms. We would ask parents to say their goodbyes on the playground to help with this transition, especially for our youngest students. School staff will be at Doors I & J to help assist students in finding their new classroom. *Numbered lines are assigned on the playground for students to gather prior to 7:45 A.M. Please see attached document with the line assignments.*
- When dropping off students, only have students exit the car on the passenger side which should be closest to the school (Northbound on Dakota Avenue and Southbound on Center Avenue). Please do not drop off students in the bus loading areas on Center Avenue or the south driveway to the school as these areas are for school busses only.
- Remind your students to only cross the street at marked crosswalks and with the assistance of an adult or a crossing guard. We would ask that adults model this safety procedure.
- Pick Up
- Parents who pick up their students should review their plan prior to the first day of school.
- Students can be picked up on the playground or the building side of Dakota and Center Avenues. Please do not drop off students in the bus loading areas on Center Avenue or the south driveway to the school as these areas are for school busses only.
- Jr. Kdg., Kindergarten, and 1st Grade students will line up on their assigned lines after school unless they ride the bus or go to Kids Inc.
- Students need to be picked up by 3:00 P.M. After 3:00 P.M. there is no longer adult supervision on the playground or at the pick areas.
